Capturing the Last Warm Fall Days -

Muddy Creek Misfits - enjoying what may be our LAST fire pit sit of the 2021 season!

It was unbelievably warm this week.  Temps near 80?  Mid-October?

Well yes, we are the south - but at this high elevation, the mountains are not usually this balmy!

We soaked it up like the troopers we are, declaring it was too hot for an afternoon walk, and enjoyed the porch with much hand stitching instead.

Because one must not waste gifted days like this, right?

Some stitching, some supervising, all chatting!

And yes, there was plenty of inside sewing too - with the A/C running!

I am loving where this purple striped wonder is going!

We all cheered as Gina put the last stitches into this gorgeous cross-stitch!

Punkin Patch from String Frenzy is looking great on the design wall!

Close up of Muriel's fun punkins!

Susan's string blocks are getting their black sashings!

It has been fun putting out the Halloween décor - including some fun items in the kitchen.  There are some festive kitchen towels, a couple of Halloween platters, and my favorite of all - the skeleton hands salad servers.

I laughed out loud seeing them washed and drying in the dish rack! LOL! SO FUNNY!

Last night before the fire died down enough for marshmallow roasting.

I love how the surrounding mountains turn to silhouette as the sun goes down.

Dinner was so scrumptious and everyone was too full for full s'more activity, but there is always room for a few roasted marshmallows by themselves.

And while all of this fire pit activity was going on - where was Zoey girl?

In one of the wagons chewing her treat! LOL!

There are 4 wagons parked under the roof of the garage, and she likes to wagon hop.  Evidently she much prefers a wagon to having cold grass on her belly.

Trees are definitely looking more spooky as they lose their leaves. Not all have lost them all yet - the chestnuts are still leafy as are some of the walnut trees and others down by the creek - but I LOVE this twilight view with all of the porch lights on, and more lights coming from upstairs windows.

Yesterday's Boxy Bow Ties pattern kick off was a hit!

It's the Muddy Creek Misfits' last day at retreat - and I'm hoping to get some sewing time with them as well today.

Temps are on the decline, so our porch days are limited and rain is forecast, so we'll see how that goes.

The question is whether I bring a binding project, or opt for some machine piecing.

We'll see!

What about your own plans for the weekend ahead? What do you have in your sights?

Quiltville Quote of the Day -

Things said that make me laugh!
And then I think....This is so true in so many ways and applies to so many situations right now.
'Nuff said!

Have a wonderful weekend, everyone - I'll catch you back here on Monday!

  10. A good day at the inn. I love the twilight pic of the inn with lights on, etc. In my mind’s eye, I see a Van Gogh painting. Really to me, this is the prettiest pic I’ve of the Inn. I can see more details...

  12. The cross stitch piece is lovely. I spent Saturday with my 2 grown children celebrating my Mom's 90th birthday as best as we could considering Covid restrictions. It was a delight to fly in from different directions and gather together for the day.

  13. My weekend was full of cloaing up the Rv for the winter. A sad goodby to our place at Lake Erie, see you next spring. but that took us all weekend and as we get older we find it takes longer every year to winterize and button up that RV for winter. But it's done now and I looked forward all last week, which we spent up at the lake to come back home and get back into my sewing space. But a good cleaning and decluttering must happen before I get into any serious sewing. too many projects on my list and several already in progress. why do I do that? Piles of scraps to get oragnized, as I have two quilts going at once the autum leaf quilt and another scrappy in pinks and greens from Addicted to scraps. Damn I started doing the scrap savers system several years ago and now I am truly addicted to scraps.
