I found my sister from another continent!
This is Andrea, from Australia!
She emailed me a couple days ahead of the show, stating that she and her family were here in Vermont on vacation – or more like – SHE had worked Vermont into her family’s vacation plans strategically picking dates around the Vermont Quilt Festival so she could be here!
This woman has the power of persuasion when it comes to getting what she wants.
I like her!
I told her in email that I would love to meet her if she can find my classroom either before class started, or at the end of lunch time, or the end of class day as suited her schedule.
She found me! What a fun gal!
And she even played volunteer to be a quilt holder for my quilts last night during my lecture. She just stepped right in when there was a need for tall girls ---
Thank you, Andrea!
Much conversation around the cutting table!
Is there anything better than that?
Making 9 patches!
If you haven’t checked out the Sisters Choice Tutorial from the free patterns tab in a while – give it a go. We make the 9 patches with two 2.5” X 11” strips, and one extra 2.5” square. The extra square is the upper right corner of the 9 patch, so in this case if her square was green – the green would be in the 4 corners….but she chose red…so the red are in the 4 corners.
Really, when you want to make a bunch of 9 patches and have them ALL DIFFERENT…this is a great way to do it!
Shelley’s chain of stitch n flip star points!
Blocks were being finished left and right – all so cute!
Mothers and daughters enjoying the day!
Check out that design wall!
Shelley doing Quilter’s Yoga! Ha!
What a great day! Click the image below if you are unable to view the slide show on your mobile device. You’ll be taken to the photo album for viewing!

Last night was the BIG ONE for me…
Fun evening!
My thanks to the Vermont Quilt Festival for inviting me to come back and teach again this year!
And we still have one workshop left to go.
Playing with Jacks is up as a half day workshop, and then I’ll be off to the airport and landing in Greensboro by 10pm if everything goes right.
Enjoy your Sunday, everyone!

Hi Bonnie, Wish I could have been there. I really like the style and color of your top you are wearing. I noticed it right off, the blue color looks great on you.
ReplyDelete"...if everything goes right." Well here's hoping, because you have really been on a roll lately. Here's to sleeping in your own bed tonight, and catching up on some much needed family time. Enjoy your July!!
ReplyDeleteWhen assembling your blocks into rows, how do you deal with the bulk from the matching points on the stars? No matter which way you press, there's going to be a lot of bulk.
