Quilters - Start Your Engines!

Yesterday morning on the porch - we've had much cooler (amd much wetter) weather this past week than in the weeks previous and we will take it!

It's quite comfortable to enjoy meals on the porch.

Most of the July Quiltvillians have not seen each other since last July - and we've got folks from California to Connecticut and everywhere in between in this group.

It's so fun to be part of the catching up and hearing whose son got married, who has new grand babies, who is newly retired and all of the good things that come with chatter amongst friends.

I also love it when hubbies and partners think ahead and send flowers for their quilting loved one with a card that reads "Have a wonderful time."  Isn't this just so pretty?  We know this guy is a keeper!

There is a lot already underway as quilters rev up their machines and dig into projects.  This is Betty's Silk Path and I am thinking it is going to reach top status this week!

Later in the day.  Go Betty Go!

Tracy is working on her Big String Quartet and hoping to get close to done - she found she is missing some sashings - thinks they are at home, and so may go just that far.

I love her scrap stash.  How fun!

Emily finished her Hunter's Star top and is now on to borders.  It's gorgeous!

Speaking of borders - Gail finished her Bowdacious top from MORE Adventures With Leaders & Enders.  It's going on her king sized bed.  WONDERFUL!

Betty Started this top last year and brought it as a finish to share.  Last year we reminisced about our webbed lawn chairs growing up and what it would do to the backs of our legs.  I can almost feel those scratchy straps right now as I am typing this!  Did you have those kinds of chairs too?

As for me - I made it to here!

All blocks are done.

The webbing has begun!

What else for today?  Oh yes!  It's drawing time!

I'll be drawing for 2 winners who will each receive a Hamilton Gardens PDF pattern from me, and a Hamilton Roll from Cotton to Quilts!

Of course, they've also got gorgeous neutral rolls to enhance your stash as well.  Check them out!

The response to our Hamilton Gardens release has been phenomenal!  I can't thank you enough, and I am so excited that you are excited to make your own version while stitching down your scraps.

A trip to New Zealand in January 2024 gave me a chance to see Hamilton Gardens for myself. All of that inspiration is captured here with easy to follow instructions, full-color photos and graphics to help you create your own version – no triangles required!

Please reply to those emails with your mailing addresses and I'll have the folks at Cotton to Quilts get your fabric prizes right out to you.

Thanks, everyone.  It's been a great pattern release and I can't wait to see your quilts when they are done.

Quiltville Quote of the Day -

Those really were the days, weren't they? ⁣
Would you go back if you could?

Sometimes I think *in a heartbeat* but then I think of how we've built this community and I wouldn't know most of you if that were the case.

I think I'll stick with where we are now.

Have a wonderful Friday, everyone!

  1. Congratulations to both Carols! Lucky you.
Bonnie, your star quilt is going to be gorgeous 😍. You should leave it out to look at everyday.
I'm. Hand quilting my Bear paw table runner. It's 28"x58". Shouldn't take too long to get done..
It's sunny here today. No rain.
Maybe I'll get a pic of my Indigo Way.
    Happy sewing.

  2. What a great quote! Yes, I am so thankful that I grew up in pre-technology time! How sweet of the Mister who sent the flowers ahead of time. I'm excited for the Olympics starting up... I'm sure your retreaters will achieve Gold Medal status by the time they leave! :) The tops are looking great already! Happy quilting!

  3. Congratulations to the two winners! I still use those webbed lawn chairs. They are lightweight to carry to ballgames and the only chairs I can sit in and get up out of easily.

  4. I just love, love, love that Glorified Nine Patch quilt behind today's quote. Also, the Baptist Fans quilting is perfection on it! Is it one of yours Bonnie? I am now itching to take my Accuquilt die out and start one for myself. Sigh, so many projects, so little time.

I love that Star of Wonder and look forward to when the pattern releases!
But what is "webbing"? You've used it a couple of times recently. Is it sewing the blocks together in columns and rows? Or something else? Lynne

    What gorgeous quilts! And regarding the lawn chairs. I reweb my mother's for her each summer and her legs still look great at 93, :}

I've got a couple of quilts in for quilting & the one I am keeping for myself, I had long planned for Baptist Fan, but was told by the quilterwhen I went in, that she didn't have Baptist Fan for her longarm 😭 I am sure it will still look fine but I was so disappointed.
