This was on my agenda yesterday.
The crazy thing is that I KNOW I took step out photos while I was making the blocks for the quilt - but months pass, I checked the file folder where I've been stashing everything, and they are nowhere to be found.
Not on my phone, not my computer, not in google photos -
I was able to refresh my memory DURING the pattern writing process on just which way worked best to place things, to send them through the machine this side up, or that side up.
A refresher and which way to press for the best of nested seams -
And it reminded me of just how fun the Catching Rainbows blocks are to make!
SO MUCH FUN!
Pattern release day is set for Friday - so you have a few days to start your fabric pulls if you haven't already.
For this quilt I found it best to stick with more tone-on-tone colors, or things that tend to read toward solid.
The backgrounds of course can be a bit bolder and busier because the colors provide enough contrast.
When I left for home around 6pm last night I found that all I really need to do is a bit of formatting and the cover page. We are getting there!
It's the season of pony watching.
And even though it was gusty and blustery out there, by 2pm I just had to step away from the studio and get some sunshine and fresh air.
And I didn't go alone!
My friend Tracey rode shotgun!
Tracey, I hope you forgive me, but your hair shows exactly how windy it was up on the ridge! LOL!
When we got back I could hardly get a comb through my baby fine mess of hair as well - but every stel was worth it!
People were few and ponies were out in droves.
There are 5 in this photo.
After THIS photo the most amazing thing happened -
We were walking down the Appalachian trail and from behind us came a thundering of hooves.
I looked over my shoulder to see two playful ponies playing chase down the edges of the trail - galloping as fast as they could - heads thrown back and manes blowing.
If there was anything that could nearly stop my heart in joy and surprise, it was this scene.
We watched them run, gallop, and then canter off as some "elder" ponies whinnied at them as if to say "No running in the halls!"
Zoey was all excited. She wanted to run too! And she usually doesn't pay the ponies any mind.
I'm so glad that Tracey came with me so we could hike and chat about quilts, fabric, machines, longarms, and how grand life will be when retirement happens and we have the gift of TIME on our hands.
Evening lap shenanigans.
Ivy is batting at Zoey's nose as if to say "Quit sniffing my tail end!" These two. What a crack up.
Scrap Inspiration from Bente!
Bente shared this photo of her Checkerboard Rails Leader & Ender finish in our Quiltville’s Open Studio group on Facebook!
"My Leaders and enders from 2017, Checkerboard rail is finished. It will be quilted by my longarm quilter. I have only used scraps and old fabrics. My 1.5 inch strip bin is now empty !! I had 2 meter of black solid fabric and the quilt size was determined by that. Only a few strips left "
Bente, this is so wonderful! For those who'd like to make one of their own, you'll find the free pattern for Checkerboard Rails under the Free Patterns Tab at the top of the blog.
Speaking of Quiltville’s Open Studio - some hacker/spammer has set up a FAKE PAGE impostering mine.
It makes me SO ANGRY! They just changed the spelling by leaving out a couple of letters -
THIS IS THE FAKE PAGE. Those who are on Facebook, could you PLEASE go to that page and report it as a FAKE PAGE? I've already reported and blocked them - so I can't see them anymore.
If all of us who can do it, we may be able to get them shut down. I need thousands of people to do this.
My thoughts are of those unsuspecting people who "like" that page thinking it is me - when all they are doing is gathering profiles.
Thank you so much.
So here Tuesday is upon us and what shall we do with it?
If I finish the pattern writing I can SEW!! Are you finding some sewing time today?
Quiltville Quote of the Day -
Something to always remember and never forget- Remind yourself often!
Oh how I love the simplicity of this darling quilt!
Have a lovely Tuesday, everyone!

ReplyDeleteI have looked at the Fake Page, but don't see how to report it as fake or block. Help!
ReplyDeleteOn the fake page, go to the 3 dots in the upper right corner and click on them. A pop up should appear and you pick what you want to do.
DeleteReported the fake page-stupid people! Wish they would use their intelligence for something good! Already 707 people following :(
ReplyDeleteHope we can get them shut down!

ReplyDeleteFake page reported! Thanks for the reminder about Checkerboard Rails. And that new block is very tempting.
ReplyDeleteDone, reported, blocked. It took a few tries, but click fraud or scam and then fake page (for us facebook challenged people :-) ). Don't let it get to you Bonnie, we love you.
ReplyDeleteLove the windy photo of Tracey and her hair. That's usually the photo I get when I'm trying to take a photo of a quilt. LOL.

ReplyDeleteOne of the local plant nurseries sent out an email a few days ago that the same fake page problem happened to them. I'm not on Facebook, so I can't help you there. Last evening I looked out the window and saw four deer in the neighbor's yard. One was calmly eating away and the other 3 were chasing each other around and jumping. It was funny to see and it's not even mating season. Perhaps one was an interloper. We have way too many.

Bonnie, thanks for the pony ride...wild and free...they are beautiful. Retirement, I've been at that stage for three years as of last week. It does have its rewards in that "time" is all yours, but one must maintain some form of structure or time will get away! It is easy to say I can wait to do that until tomorrow but eventually things stack up waiting for tomorrow. I have found maintaining my calendar and TO DO list keeps me on track. Of course being retired gives you the flexibility to do it when you are ready and not before or after the demands of a work schedule. There are benefits on both sides of retirement...enjoy the work because a part of you will miss the structure of work some day. Today I'm watering the garden, finishing binding on a quilt and gathering fabrics for a new quilt a long...no time clock here.😊. Thanks for helping us all enjoy the simple things in life...
ReplyDeletePS: Reported and blocked the fake page. You would think those people would find something productive to do with their time!
ReplyDeleteI went to the fake page from this post and there was no postings. I don't know if that means it is not up or I was not on the fake page. If I indeed was on the correct fake page how do I report it as fake.
ReplyDeleteI find it amazing how many times fake pages pop up and how difficult it is to get facebook to fix it.
ReplyDeleteReported it as a fake page and blocked it.
ReplyDeleteThere are three dots in the upper right side of the page. Click on them and a page pops up that says Report. Click Report, page pops up, click on scams and fake page. I believe another page pops up and it has a FAKE button.
ReplyDeleteReported and blocked. I’m so sorry this has happened to you!

ReplyDeleteI HATE Spammers and hackers. But I LOVE the pony stories. You tell such a good story I feel like I am there. It is hot, humid and hazy here in South Central Texas. Building up for a much-needed thunderstorm this weekend (hopefully.) Anticipating the release of the new pattern. Loving the furbaby stories too!! Have a good evening!
ReplyDeletereported the fake page
ReplyDeleteWonderful to see ponies and horses in full happy gallopy flow. Thank you for the mental picture. Must have taken your breath away!
ReplyDeleteHave reported the fake page too. xxx
Reported and blocked. Thanks for all you do for the quilting community, Bonnie!
ReplyDeleteI have reported the page as fake. Is everyone aware that this page was created in 2015? So it has been around for a long time... Interesting...
ReplyDeleteHi Bonnie,
ReplyDeleteJust to let you know the Royal City Quilt Guild in Guelph, Ontario Canada met by zoom last evening. There was a power point show done to encourage people to join the mystery quilt group. Wow Bonnie you would have been so proud to see the amazing quilts that were all attributed to you as they were your many mystery designs! They were all different and so beautiful! Thank you Bonnie for the joy you bring to so many!
