Rest in Peace, Sweet Sadie Jane.

It is with unbelievable sadness I write this - our sweet Sadie Jane crossed the rainbow bridge at about 1:15 am this morning.

We believe she had a stroke just past midnight after we had gone to bed - we awoke to her having a seizure.

I called the emergency vet in Boone, an hour away.  We were on our way there when she passed away in my arms.

We are devastated.  We loved her so much.  She was the best rescue dog ever - in fact we didn't rescue her, in so very many ways she rescued us.

The plan this morning is to take her to our vet who will arrange a cremation.  Our sons couldn't be here to say goodbye, and we just can't put her in a hole in the ground. We will eventually release her over our mountain property a place she dearly loved and was such a huge part of.

I will be taking a couple days away from blogging.

Thank you for all the love you have shown our family and Sadie Jane throughout the past many years.

Go love on your fur babies and hug them tight -

  35. Ms Bonnie,
When we met about 10 years ago we talked about our rescue Sadie’’s. They were even the same size and color. My Sadie had different ears though. They were always straight up like a fox. My Sadie passed away 3 years ago. When i look at the places she use to rest it makes me smile. She was a good traveler. Always was ready for a ride. Our fur babies bring so much joy to our lives and I hope we brought just as much joy to their lives. I know my Sadie is waiting for me in heaven.
I pray that God brings you comfort in knowing that he is taking care of her now.

I am in tears as I type this as we who love our fur babies as you (and we) do feel the same way when they pass - they don't live nearly long enough. What a blessing they are to our lives, and they ask so little of us. Time will ease the grief, but never stop that love in our hearts for those who pass before us -- and I'm one of those who firmly believes that when I pass I'll be reunited with my beloved pets as well as those humans in my life who I loved so much. I'm glad you were home & she was with you both when she passed. Deb

  179. Oh Bonnie! I'm so sorry for your loss! Sadie was a cute little girl, I loved how she looked, when you were talking to her and taking photos. Loved seeing her sitting on your quilts and quilt blogs to remind you "I'm here! Lets go for a stroll!" Send you a *bighug* from SC and Austria!

  180. This news hit me particularly hard, Bonnie, because I too am facing a time coming quickly, too quickly for me, that my companion furbaby, my pride and joy, just as Sadie was yours, will be crossing that Rainbow Bridge too. I will tell Brute to find Sadie when he follows her, and they'll wait for both of us to join them. To them it will seem like a second that we are apart from them. For us, it will seem forever. Blessings and love to you, hubby, and everyone who were a part of Sadie's immediate family in this time of grief.
