The Harbor Center, Slidell,. Louisiana!
Would you just take a look at those blue skies, sunshine and palm trees?
The weather is SO beautiful it makes it almost hard to be inside making Jamestown Landing from my book String Fling with the quilters!
Stringing up the background blocks!
I’d consider a lighter load of “ONLY” 24 students in class also a breath of fresh air – if not just a “smooth sailing” way to recuperate after last week’s 7 back to back workshops of nearly 40 in each class in Pigeon Forge. Don’t get me wrong, I love big boisterous classes with loads of energy – but this was such a relaxing day with only two things on our agenda:
String blocks -
And miles of half-square triangles!
I love to teach WEBBING!
And successful smiles are infectious!
As each block was completed and held up – cheers erupted around the room. And we had them in SO MANY different color ways.
Vernon’s beautiful aqua and cream.
Which Twin is Which?
Love the red!
Purple berry deliciousness!
Charlotte’s rainbow version is in the bottom right corner.
How about we make the background dark and the design light?
We were small but mighty -
Can you see the laughter ringing on the faces?
Well done everyone!

After class our group of instructors headed over to a local place for an early dinner by the water.
It was time for some feet up and a quick round of relax and eat before we headed back over to the Harbor center for the evenings round of activities including instructor show & share. I loved this. I rarely get to see what other instructors are doing in their workshops, and I enjoyed hearing them speak about what quilting means to them. What they get from the process, how they got started and what is their favorite part of what they do.
Of course Gudrun and I nearly had to be put in Time Out! LOL!
Enjoying some time with Lyric Kinard!
She lives a mere 2 hours (at most) drive from my home in North Carolina, yet I haven’t seen her in 4 years or more – crazy traveling teacher schedules.
Seminar instructor staff!
I’m having a great time working with these talented and inspirational ladies -
It was nearly 9pm by the time I was back to the hotel last night. No sewing happened. I just flopped into bed, went through some emails and that was it.
Tonight? Maybe I can sew tonight? We shall see. If the weather continues to be this lovely I may just decide on a long evening walk before dark and call it another day.
Did you see we currently have a Quilty Box Gift-Away happenig? TWO awesome boxes! Be sure to enter to win ON THAT POST.

Vintage ocean waves quilt shared by Siobhan.
Sometimes we've got to work through our fear until we come out the other side.
Don’t let your fear be the reason that NOTHING happens!
Have a wonderful Thursday, everyone!
Hope you get to take a break and have some fun while in the Big Easy! I actually see a couple of my guild ladies there. I hope to take a couple of classes when you get to Vicksburg in August!
ReplyDeleteBonnie, you inspire me every day. Thank you for all that you do for the quilting community.
ReplyDeleteI would have lived to be a fly on the wall when you and Gudrun got together!
ReplyDeleteI love seeing what your classes do with your wonderful patterns. There is always one that jumps out at me and makes me go..."wow, I never thought to do those colors together" and then I find myself with my choices expanded. It's awesome!
ReplyDeleteOn another note, is there a way for us to report when someone has spammed your messages? There are 3 and that's out of 7 messages. Just wondering.
So glad to see this trip has some r&r in it! You deserve it! I love how you always put some fun in everything you do... a lesson for all of us.
ReplyDeleteI love Gudrun's hair! In fact, I had mine cut yesterday in a similar fashion! So on trend don't you think? I love the blocks!
ReplyDeleteI’m just 25 miles away in Picayune MS recovering from a cornea transplant redo on Wednesday. I had so wanted to attend class and finally meet you. You will probably never be this close to my hometown again. 🥴🥴🙄🙄😘😘
