Pinwheel Fancy All Day Long!

20180831_070552-001
Meet Alicia!

She came to our Pinwheel Fancy workshop – class number 5 in our Summer Series hosted by Mary’s Quilt Shop owned by Mary Koval in Bedford, Pennsylvania!

This workshop day is a birthday present from daughter Marie, and I was so happy to spend the day with them both.

It’s been a week of mother/daughter teams and it does my heart so good to see the quilt love being shared between generations.

There have also been sister teams, and what a force we are when we gather together.

So glad you could come join us and share your birthday with us, Alicia!

Pinwheel Fancy from the Addicted to Scraps book!

It looks more intricate and difficult than it really is – but it’s 3 sizes of triangles and a checkerboard  filled half-square unit as well!  can you see it??

Let’s break it down a bit farther:

Triangles are cut easily with the Essential Triangle Tool!

A pieced half-square triangle is joined with two wing triangles -
A large base triangle is added!

Only a bit of dog ear removal required!

Tada!!

Making new friends while stitching together!

Alternate blocks make this setting so fun!

All the busy quilters – stitch, stitch, stitch!

Baked Eggplant ala JOE!

This was such a thing of beauty, sight, smell, and taste! We’ve been so spoiled every night  - coming home from a busy workshop day back to Mary’s house and there is her hubby Joe in the kitchen whipping up something spectacularly different every night.

I love eggplant – and this is layered with tomatoes both crushed and diced, and mozzerella cheese, beaten egg, more sauce, more eggplant , more sauce – and topped with Parmesan.

Oh, heaven!

And as I type this, knowing there are leftovers in the fridge – I just may heat some up for BREAKFAST before heading out to our final workshop – Wanderlust! (Also from the Addicted to Scraps book!)

Beautiful flowers from Wednesday's morning walk.

Cone flowers are my favorite summer flower, and these paired with the yellow daisies are just the best end of summer treat.

Dates for next year’s Quiltville Summer Series hosted by Mary’s Quilt Shop are in the process of being decided upon.

If you joined in this year, we’d love to welcome you back!  If you have never been – put it on your calendar when dates are released.

We’ll be doing 5 consecutive days next year – running Thursday through Monday.  We are already making plans!  This is the one summer event I look forward to all year.

  2. Yesterday's post, at the end, where you write your daily wisdom, featured a Garden Party in a totally different color combo. Thank you - I am making your Garden Party, just like yours, yes copycat me, and wondered what a less colorful version might look like. LOVE them both ways! Elaine Adair

  3. Happy Birthday, Alicia! And a Good Daughter Award to Marie. I saw my friend Connie from Maryland in the pics too; what a surprise to recognize a student in the video. 🙂

  5. What a fun workshop Love that Pinwheel block, but looks complicated. What a fun scrappy look. How about getting Joe to give his recipe for Eggplant. Yum, I love eggplant, too, hubby doesn't, but he might just eat that recipe. Looks delish!

  6. Bonnie, it isn't nice to make us drool over a dish and not give us the recipe. Would you please ask Joe, if he would share with us??
