Tropical Twisting Away in Bedford PA!

20180824_120433
There is nothing that will lift a body up more than quilty friends who come from near and far to greet you with hugs and smiles and fun tee shirts!

The Kansas Contingency put a lot of planning into having their shirts made, wearing them proudly to let everyone know in our busy class of 53 quilters just who they were, where they were from, and WHY they were here!

Evidently I’ve displaced the wizard in lieu of scrap sewing!  Works for me!  (That wizard always kind of creeped me out, anyway!)

No girls, you are NOT in Kansas anymore – it’s the land of Pennsylvania and our Summer Workshop Series hosted by Mary Koval and Mary’s Quilt Shop in Bedford!

Oh, my word!  It’s a full mother load ready to play making Tropical Twist from the Addicted to Scraps Book!

Hooray!  Meliza’s here from Texas with her aqua beauty!

Debbie has joined us from Illinois!

Jill and the Ta Da girls traveled down from Erie, PA -

And from Logan, Utah!

One gal in the back corner was from Alaska, via visiting her daughter in Idaho which put her HALF WAY to Pennsylvania if you look at it that way – and she came as well!

Me made strip sets!

We cut them up, added corners, switched things around – and had a ball.

Jill has definitely left her carpel tunnel problem way behind and is doing great post surgery.

(If you have issues, don’t wait!  Get it done – quilting is waiting!)

Oh girls, this looks SO wonderful!

I’ve put EVERYTHING in the video below, including a live video clip of our lay down and wind up for this  day – It just felt so good to be surrounded by so much quilty love.

The video is about 3 minutes long, so grab a cuppa and sit a spell and enjoy:

After class I headed back to Mary’s – for some MACHINE TIME of my own.

After watching 50+ ladies sew all day long, and realizing that I hadn’t sat at a machine since I left Louisville – more than 3 weeks ago, it was the only thing I wanted to do in the whole world.

I’ve got a project.  I’ve got my cheddar featherweight.  I set up at the dining room table with the intent of j”Just putting pieces through” until dinner time.  It felt great.

Don’t you feel like all of the chaos inside you just settles into place when you are sewing?  I do.

My evening Quilting Companion – Buddie!

She was barely 6 weeks old the last time I saw her – it’s a year later and she is all grown up, but still so very much puppy!

There won’t be any sewing tonight – it’s lecture night following another busy Jared Takes a Wife day.

But tomorrow – if I can get just another hour or two – I’ll be on my way to making sense of or coming to terms with many of the things that are going on in my background.

So today – let me ask you this.  Did you enter to win our August Quilty Box Gift-Away? I’m offering up both a full sized Quilty Box, and the Quilty Box mini! Find all the info ON THAT POST.

ALSO!  Thanks to your participation I have moved past the nomination phase into the voting phase of National Quilter’s Circle blogger awards as a finalist for “Best Quilting Patterns Blog” and “Best Overall Quilting Blog”.

You can lend me a hand by voting for me and also sharing the voting page to your friends and social media HERE.  Thank you so much!
