What a great location for a large workshop full of happy quilters!
I am tickled by innovative names for groups, as well as plays on words and discovering how the Racing Fingers quilt guild came up with their name, putting 2 + 2 together left me with a giggle.
For race car fans, it’s not hard to figure out. For those who don’t follow racing –it finally dawned on me that it all has to DO with racing, and that’s what comes to mind when most hear the words Daytona 500.
These gals have adopted the popular theme and even their name tags have checkered fabric representing the popular checkered flag. So fun.
We gathered together with 39 in attendance – two were missing, one calling in sick from home, and the other in hospital – so sorry to have missed the opportunity to spend the day with these ladies. the were missed and from what I understand text messages and photos were being sent back and forth to both in an effort to make them feel part of our day.
I love the caring that happens with quilting groups!
Talkin’ Turkey from String Fling was up on deck!
“Quilters! Start your engines!”
“Vroom vroom!”
And they are off! All of the Racing Fingers Racers ladies were having a ball making string blocks:
“Here comes Terri, running neck and neck with Wendy as one block turns into another!”
All in good sport, girls!
“And the 301 is coming up close, put pulls off into the pit for a bobbin change…..”
(Yes, this is my non-fan attempt at race track lingo…….LOL!)
Looking good, ladies!
Much laugher, much chatter, much making of friends.
This is what it’s all about!

Thanks, ladies! It was great meeting you!
You’ll find the rest of our day’s fun (At least the classroom aspect!) in the video below. Click to play:
Class was followed by a quick dinner at Outback, and we were RIGHT BACK to the church for the evening’s guild presentation.
Yes, Leslie, this was for YOU!!
I love doing impromptu shout-outs. The atmosphere is always so fun and so full of friendship and connectivity, I am happy to be part of it! Leslie, you were missed, and I hope to see you NEXT TIME!
It was a double long day. By the time we packed it all up and got back to Terri’s house I was ready for bed. I finished editing the YouTube video and it was off to dream land for me.
If you are noticing that this is posting just after 6am, it’s because I am off to Mount Dora early this morning – We are headed out at 7:15 so I can be there by 9am and do it all over again. This time a morning presentation followed by a half-day Chunky Churndash workshop with a repeat of Talkin’ Turkey tomorrow.
These Florida gals are not letting any moss grow beneath my feet! Bring it on!
Quiltville Quote of the Day!
This is something I have been thinking a lot about lately. Sometimes you have to pull yourself away from the noise and even the happy fun chaos and listen to what your heart is really telling you.
Your heart already knows the answer, even if your head doesn’t want to hear it!
Have a Terrific Tuesday, everyone!
Looks like you were having as much fun as they were :)! I LOVE all the red blocks,so pretty!!! Where did you find those patchwork shoes in yesterdays post and how did those elastic shoes from China hold up?
ReplyDeleteSo many beautiful blocks here! I'll take one of each, please! And I love that the group was looking out for their friends that couldn't be with them.
ReplyDeleteThank you Bonnie! I really enjoyed your lecture and trunk show last night. It was so fun to meet you. Thanks for the shout out for our friend Leslie! I hope to take a class with you someday....
ReplyDeleteBonnie, We should take you to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway when you visit Indy this year. This is the birthplace of racing. Built in 1909, first 500 in 1911. Looking forward to seeing you this year.
ReplyDeleteWith Rick's open heart surgery on 01/.03/2018 I am still having difficulty going into the quilt room and finishing up a customer T-short quilt- told her I wasn't going to make the deadline. It was so close with a 4-vessel bypass, I am wanting to spend time on the couch doing hand projects (remember that hexi quilt? I'm reworking it) with Rick in his chair next to me. That just seems where I need to be !1

We say the process of a quilt is Not a race. These ladies take it to another level. Have fun and take time to listen with your heart.
ReplyDeleteLove your Talkin' Turkey. So happy to get to see it in person. Beautiful! We had a fantastic time last night! Enjoy the rest of your time in Florida! Thank you for signing all my books.

Your comment of the day always rings so true. Today spoke to me SO LOUDLY, thank you.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait for your trunk show & lecture on Thursday in Ocala
ReplyDeleteThat block looks like its fun to make. I hope the gal at :53 sees that she pieced a strip of geese upside down before that block gets quilted! (unless she intended it that way)
ReplyDeleteVideo of the blocks brought back memories of your Taking Turkey class I took when you were Rangeley Maine, loved it
ReplyDeleteoh man, this looks like fun! and it is super busy! that is awesome. One day I will go to a retreat/workshop event!

ReplyDeleteMagnumax However if you want to exterminate excess water weight you may need to be reminded to drink more normal water. Training can go on as normal way. Begin a lot of stretching activities prior for your own workout. Use knee wraps to lend support on the knee if need happen to be. http://jackedmuscleextremeadvice.com/magnumax/
ReplyDeleteIt was great taking another workshop with you. The demonstrations were informative.
ReplyDeleteI learned how to use your ruler for fast and accurate flying geese. Thank you for a great evening with your trunk show.
