I awoke this morning to SNOW!
Not big heavy flakes, but fine crystals falling silently.
How long had they been falling? I don’t know! Perhaps it started in the wee small hours of the morning.
The wind didn’t blow, there was nothing at all to let me know that I would open the door this morning to a wonderland of white.
A snow day! A home day! FABULOUS!
And since my Quiltmaker Magazine also arrived yesterday, I thought today would be a good day to celebrate my home day snow day sew day with a Quiltmaker Gift-Away.
Oh goodness!
The view from my front porch UP my driveway.
No, I’m not going ANYWHERE today!
The view from the back porch toward the creek!
Who wouldn’t want to stay in and quilt on a day like this?
You will find all SORTS of inspiration between these pages. The colors, the patterns, and even the tutorials.
One of the things I love about the direction that Quiltmaker is going are the fabulous tutorials included in each issue. In this issue, Diane Harris has a wonderful how-to for basic paper piecing that is perfect for beginners if you have always wanted to try.
There are also Longarm quilting helps and hints!
But by far, I love the idea and color inspiration found in the various patterns!
Carolyn Cullinan McCormick will have you flocking with the geese in her quilt Ice Crystals!
Patty Clayton will win you over with Forget Me Knot!
The cover quilt, Spinners is an up-do on the Windblown Square block, perfect for all of your favorite prints!
And yes! The pattern for Rolling Stone is this issues Addicted to Scraps column block!
I’ve pulled together a super duper bundle sure to please!

ReplyDeleteYay for you! A snow day, sew day, and a giveaway for us!! "Generosity is a sign of faith." -- heard that yesterday and thought of you. Spent the morning enhancing my Scrap Users System with 72 headers/sample cards from United Notions/Moda Winter Warehouse Sale. I showed great restraint, because I know how far they can go. Other great deals to be had. I love going the first day of the their three day event that happens twice a year. I always wonder where they will end up in one of your patterns. Noticed the new display card for the Schmetz chrome topstitch needles is a half square of aqua and coral -- On Ringo Lake is everywhere!! Enjoy your time home. Hugs, Allison C Bayer, Plano, Texas USA
ReplyDeleteGreat giveaway and so glad you get to stay home and are not traveling in the snow. I know there are a lot of icy roads out there so what a blessing to stay home! Hope you enjoy your day and thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteYou are drawing this contest on my birthday! That has to be a lucky sign for me, right? LOL I would keep my fingers crossed, but then I would not be able to quilt! Snowing here today and snow = sew in my book!
ReplyDeleteHey Bonnie looks a lot like my area. We got 13 inches of snow the other day. I'm still plugging away at ORL. I got an embroidery machine just before Christmas and since I've been itching to start learning to use it, I get it set up and start it stitching while I JUST KEEP TRIMMIMG, TRIMMING, TRIMMING my mystery quilt blocks. I'm almost done with clues 6 & 7, and do looking forward to assembling my blocks. I've learned so much with this mystery quilt experience, and my accuracy in both cutting and stitching have improved so much. Thank you for this wonderful opportunity to create something so beautiful that I can be proud of. May God bless you in all of your endeavors.
ReplyDeleteHope to win.

ReplyDeleteHi Bonnie, those photos are gorgeous - would make beautiful art quilts. I'm so jealous of the people who can enter your giveaway, it's just amazing, but being in Australia, at the beginning of a heatwave just to be different, we just have to dream about the goodies. I will get my digital copy of Quiltmaker though, so it's not all bad.
