I’m networking.
I’m not teaching.
I’m not lecturing.
I’m one of the girls, and I brought Mona with me as I attended the February meeting of the Ashe County Piecemakers Quilt Guild in West Jefferson, North Carolina.
We had a great time! And it was really fun being introduced just as “guests.” No last names were given, just “This is Bonnie and she is purchasing property next door in Grayson County, VA.
And then two and two started being put together and it felt like a surprise party when the last name came out and the big welcome came on.
This was also Mona’s first guild meeting, and we had come to hear Lester Mullis of the Ashe County Sewing Center speak on the care and maintenance of our beloved machines.
I am so glad to meet Lester. I occasionally need someone to rewire a machine, or a foot pedal, or deal with stuff that I just don’t have the knowledge or experience to deal with. And he will be right there, not too far from Quilt Villa VA. His business card is tucked securely in my wallet!
But as with any guild meeting, the best part is show & share, and I was tickled to see many Quiltville quilts represented!
Scrappy Trips in straight furrows!
Tami had given a Scrappy Trips workshop to guild members just a few weeks ago and there were a couple of finishes, each so different and so beautiful!
Check out this one! Whoowhoo!
A couple mysteries were also on deck.
GORGEOUS Allietare!
And a Grand Illusion!
And a Celtic Solstice in desert colors.
This one is Tami’s!
Doesn’t it look like a fun group? Just look at the laughter in this photo!
This lovely bit of blue was made by Kathy on the left.
I love this wonky log cabin! FUN!
I first met Tami and Kathy during a shopping trip at Mary Jo’s in Gastonia where they were buying fabrics for the up and coming guild opportunity quilt project. I never knew that within a few years they would become the closest guild to my new location, and I am looking forward to spending more time with these ladies.
My travel schedule is crazy, I’m not often in town or up at the cabin when guild meetings happen, but when dates and times and places mesh, it’s nice to know there are quilters around the corner.
Snoopie and the Art Bus!
Nichole Wilde’s latest update after yesterday's post: Thanks to your open hearts, Nichole’s Art Bus is in the process of becoming road worthy again! You more than exceeded the goal she had estimated for the fixing of the Art Bus. We can’t thank you enough.
She writes:
“Snoopie is a 13 State dog (so far!) and she wants you to know she is so grateful for your support of the Art Bus and our Quilting Across America Tour! Her snacks are assured, thanks to your generous support! My heart is full. We pulled together as a community and we were able to do this for her, and I am so grateful to you for your participation. Many hands (and wallets!) make light work, and the ripples that we send out by the love and help we give goes on and on.
We have authorized the work on the Art Bus and hope to be back on the road by the end of the day tomorrow, although they did say they are not in a rush to get us out of the yard before the weekend. Thank you so much for helping us to cover the costs of this delay!
We all are so grateful of your support of us and our mission of sharing creativity and community all across America! All three of us look forward to the opportunity to meet you when we roll into your neighborhood!
Be sure to go to the Art Bus Stops form at www.yesyoucanquilt.com to enter your information so that we can be sure that you are not missed on the tour. Check out Nichole's YouTube Channel, too for instructional videos and updates from the road!
Every single positive thought and donation is so deeply appreciated. Thank you! We love you and are so looking forward to spending time with you!”

"Quilting Across America Tour"
This has been happening during cabin sewing time!
THIS has ALSO been happening! HA!
Usually about this time it is time to stop working on the Straits of Mackinac Quilt and move on to binding:
I am on my last side! HOORAY!
So happy to have Dawn’s early light almost in the DONE column. Just the remainder of the 4th side, and the hanging sleeve and label to go.
Cabin time is winding down. I’ll be heading home on Monday (No mail service on Monday, it’s a holiday!) and I fly off to Dallas on Tuesday for a couple of workshops, a lecture and retreat fun.
Quiltville Quote of the Day!
Vintage nine patch quilt found in North Carolina.
It's simple. The energy you send out goes on and on touching others.
I love what David Dieda said:
"Everything you do right now ripples outward and affects everyone. Your posture can shine your heart or transmit anxiety. Your breath can radiate love or muddy the room in depression. Your glance can awaken enjoy. Your words can inspire freedom. Your every act can open hearts and minds."
We have a direct effect not only on how our days go, but also on others. Let your ripples be positive ones!
Ripple On!
How rewarding it must have felt for you.......to make a surprise visit to a guild and see 'your' quilts presented at show and tell! Yay! It's happening all over the WORLD, Bonnie! Do your boys have any clue who their mama is??
ReplyDeleteWe were so happy to have met you and Mona yesterday. What an amazing meeting we had. Door is always open. Come when you can fit it in. Hope to see Mona more often. Thank you for "dropping" by.
ReplyDeleteFun to be 'in the crowd, just for a bit! I'm sure the Bonnie Quiltmakees loved having you attend. Did Mona love it?
ReplyDeletewhat a marvelous thing to have found a quilt guild so close to your new cabin, and
ReplyDeleteto know that there are already quilters there who are making your quilts!
It's kind of like discovering family that you didn't know you had.
I'm happy for you that you've been so blessed in this move.
