Evening Edition --- Free Kindle Book!

I’ve been sewing like a crazy woman all day! And I’m making good progress on some things that have sat at a standstill for a while…It’s HOT HOT HOT and muggy outside, so it feels so good to be in!

However, my feet aren’t happy – that old ugly plantar fasciitis is rearing it’s ugly head again, and even though it’s 90+ out, I’m having to put my running shoes with orthodics in them ON MY FEET first thing in the morning. Hot feet all day…ugh! But it’s better than HURTING feet. I tell ya, this getting old ain’t for sissies!

So, while browsing about this evening I came across this free book!

Hostage in Havana, by Noel Hynd. I’ve read him before, and he is really good!

Book description:

From bestselling ABA author Noel Hynd comes this new series set against the backdrop of Havana, an explosive capital city of faded charm locked in the past and torn by political intrigue.U.S. Treasury Agent Alexandra LaDuca leaves her Manhattan home on an illegal mission to Cuba that could cost her everything. Accompanying her is the attractive but dangerous Paul Guarneri, a Cuban-born exile who lives in the gray areas of the law.

Together, they plunge into subterfuge and danger. Without the support of the United States, Alex must navigate Cuban police, saboteurs, pro-Castro security forces, and an assassin who follows her from New York. Bullets fly as allies become traitors and enemies become unexpected friends. Alex, recovering from the tragic loss of her fiance a year before, reexamines faith and new love while taking readers on a fast-paced adventure.

Readers of general market thrillers, such as John le Carre, David Baldacci, and Joel Rosenberg, will eagerly anticipate this first installment.

Worth a shot? I think so! In fact, I think I’ll finish up this cutting of about a bazillion half square triangles ((give or take a few!!)) Go find a nice reclining place to elevate these throbbing feet and do a bit of reading tonight…..

As always, check the price before clicking as prices can change without notice ---

Enjoy!

  1. Bonnie, have you tried acupuncture for your plantar fascitis?? Acupuncture usually doesn't hurt, but I won't fib~~it's pretty ouchy on the feet, but oh, mama! REALLY helpful!!

Here's hoping that you're well sooner than soon!!

  2. I had the Plantar fascitis last year, got the cortizone shot (that was absolutely the devil!) and it didn't do any good, but I wore the boot to bed for 6 straight months, and the pain was gone by then. I just take Meloxicam (like heavy duty motrin) nightly now, and it's all good. Did you ever try the boot? It's angled so it keeps your foot pushed up (like toes towards your knees), and it stretches that muscle out. I told the docs that I would do anything they could think of before doing surgery, and they didn't think the boot would do it, but it did! So it might be worth a try, if you haven't already.

Hope you have a pain-free night!

  3. Bonnie, I have had it before also and it does hurt like the devil! I had physical therapy for it and it helped, but you have to do the exercises at least twice daily. I did find a great pair of sandals that are on my feet constantly, when I'm home. Of course when I'm at work I have to have closed shoes and wear Brooks Addiction..only thing I can wear! The bad part is you never completely get over it!

  5. BOnnie, you need to do motrin around the clock, 24/7, ice as cold and as often as you can stand it, and get someone (physical therapist) to show you some stretches. Do them before during and after walking, and new snekers. You will need to be focused, just like when you are chain piecing and you will get relief. Put a pillow at the foot of the bed to keep quilts off feet while sleeping. You will get better! Best wishes, Mary. :-)))

  6. Get an old tennis ball and roll it back and forth under the arch and the ball of your foot, it really helps.

  7. Wow, I read everyone else's comments....and I got nothin! I guess I'm lucky that I haven't had that particular problem. Just wanted to send you a cyber hug and hope that you find some relief soon! I can't wait to see some of the things you've been sewing on...

  8. I had that problem with my feet off and on for several years. A couple of years ago it was so bad I was almost constantly limping. A fellow teacher told me about the elastic bands you can get to go around the arch on your foot. I got mine at the pharmacy section at Wal-Mart. After wearing it for a couple of weeks, I got rid of the problem and haven't had it since.
Hope you find relief soon. I know how miserable that can be.

  11. When I was going to physical therapy a couple of years ago, the tech told me to freeze a bottle of water and roll it back and forth on the floor with the affected foot for at least 15 minutes every day. It really helped.
