On Ringo Lake Mystery Monday Link-Up, Part 1!

IMG_20171126_225142_978000
Monday, Monday – So good to me! *Singing*

How’s everyone doing this morning?

It’s our first Mystery Monday Link-Up for On Ringo Lake And I am so excited to see what you’ve been working on over Thanksgiving weekend.

We have many new folks with us this year, so if you’ve never done a link-up before, we will include some info so you can add your photo of your progress to the mix.

You’ll need either a blog, an instagram account, a pinterest account, a flickr account or a google + account.  All of which are free, and a great way of journaling your progress on any project.  ALL of these must be set to PUBLIC.  Please, no private accounts as no one will be able to see what you are sharing, so what’s the point?

We will get to that in a minute!

This is coming to you from Chandler, Arizona!

Andee and Irene are two gals that I can’t live without.  They keep our Quiltville’s Open Studio group on facebook running, while both working full time jobs. And yet, they give their all to make sure that things are running smoothly in our facebook group.  No spamming, no talking dirty, keeping things quilt-related and ---during the mystery especially ---helping folks remember that this is a MYSTERY and to refrain from posting unit counts and sizes.

I thank them so much for working so hard to keep our group going.  We are nearing 73,000 quilters and it takes a village behind the scenes to keep it running so well.  Thank you ladies!

Andee and her guild have had Quiltville Mystery Kick Off Day the Saturday after Thanksgiving for the past 5 years now, and it is a huge success. Along with working on the NEW mystery clue, they bring their finished quilts from the previous year for photos ops!

**Note**  How many of you noticed that the L is missing from QUILTVILLE on the cake, and it says QUITVILLE??  The photo was taken, and the cake cut into pieces and quickly consumed before anyone noticed!  Too funny!

She writes:
We had 18 people at our 5th Annual Quiltville Mystery Kickoff party this year.

Some of our regulars were out of town or working but were with us in spirit!  One of my new Quiltville Cruise friends, Cynthia, came in all the way from Vegas!  Well she has family here and had the holiday with them but I am sure our party was the draw, wink!

A few gals had already gifted En Provence so their quilts are not in our picture, and Barb had to leave before picture time but we got one of her alone.
My favorite part of this get together is seeing all of your magnificent designs in different colors up close.  Each one is its own masterpiece!

Labels in place!
This year we got a shot of the backings and the labels.  Everyone oohed and ahhhed over the fabrics chosen.  Each attendee is gifted a label made simply with your picture in MS Word.  I just add in designed by Bonnie Hunter, made by blank and info about the party and year.  SEW much fun.

This year’s label!

Of course we had lots of food and cake too as we stitched away.
Thank you Bonnie for this gift, I have made every mystery (some more than once) and look forward to it every year.  I even have a tab on my blog devoted to the mystery quilts and another one with Quiltville quilts!
Looking forward to clue two of On Ringo Lake!

This group is not far from where my Dad and brother lives, and I’m headed there tomorrow.  One of these years I’m going to be there FOR the Mystery Kick-Off Party –it looks like too much fun!

Irene is co-owner of The Cozy Quilter in Louisville, Kentucky and I am so excited that they are hosting an evening group sew-in during the course of the mystery where everyone can come and work on their clues together!

Have fun, ladies!

If you have a group who is stitching together, send me some photos along with the story behind the photos in an email and you could be featured in a future Mystery Monday post!

No matter where you are in your On Ringo Lake, you can share blocks, design wall photos, completed tops, quilted tops waiting for binding, finished quilts, quilts with your dog, cat or grand baby on it – just share!

If you do not have a blog, you can link to an instagram post, google+ post, flickr photo or even a Pinterest photo. But you MUST have one of these to participate.

So be sure when you are filling in your information below that you include a URL to your specific post or photo, not just your main blog or profile address.  We need the address of the page where your photo and post is, not the whole account.

For those who don’t understand HOW to find the URL of any given post PLEASE read this linky tutorial before you link up again.

For an example of a blog post including a link back, click HERE.
For a Pinterest post including a link back, click HERE.
For an Instagram post including a link back, click HERE.
For a Flickr post including a link back, click HERE.

If you hare having trouble, why not contact someone who has “done it correctly” and ask for their help? Leave them a comment on their photo.  We can help each other.

If you have linked to my main blog address http://quiltville.blogspot.com that also needs to be changed to the URL for today's linky page. Please check your post or photo and make sure you have the right link.

Include this link in your post: http://quiltville.blogspot.com/2017/11/on-ringo-lake-mystery-monday-link-up.html  Or short link: http://bit.ly/2hUJQHB

If you don’t know how to link it so it is clickable in your blog post, don’t worry about it. Just copy and paste the above URL into your text.

We are also using the hashtags #quiltvillemystery and #onringolakequilt for social media.  Please use them so we can find you!

I want to thank those who took the time to correct entries on this link-up for On Ringo Lake.  I realize that quite a few people skim read and don’t really take the time to understand what I am requesting with this Link-Up and other social media posting throughout the course of our mystery.

One more time:

Please do NOT post unit sizes or unit counts in your post.  This is a mystery.  The sizes and counts are plainly available in the mystery directions themselves.  Folks can get them by coming to my directions.

Also, your link-up post, be it on Instagram, Pinterest, your blog or wherever MUST include a link-back to the link-up post. The link you are to use is given to you above.

Our posts are reciprocal.  Which means, I send you all of MY traffic, and those who visit your page need to be able to get to me from your post.  If you post to Pinterest or Instagram, your blog, etc. - you need to add the link to the link-up post in your photo description.  It doesn’t matter if it is a hyperlink or just plain text, but it must be there.  If you do not link back to my post, your link will be removed from our link-up.  It’s that simple.  And it isn’t hard to do.

Those who do not follow these three simple requests – No piece count, no unit size, and link back included to the link-up post will be removed from the link-up.

Thank you for working with me to be sure these things happen.  I really appreciate it. And it is so so so simple to just take the time and comply.

The linky pages will be alive FOREVER in the archives, Your link will stay there so people can find you, please link correctly to my post so people can find me and the others who have shared their links as well.  Don’t be the dead end street for everyone else.  Thank you!

This link-up closes at 11:55pm Eastern time on Thursday. If you miss this one, you can link up on next Monday!

  1. Up early to get my post written and linked up. I haven't touched base with the local newbies yet. Trying to get a group to sew parts together so we can take a picture for you. Thanks for the Mystery.

  2. I'm new!
My computer and I are at war , it refuses to post new pictures and ones I add disappear!
As I understand ~ I can still do the Mystery Quilt, but will simply miss out on all the fun of seeing others progress and sharing my own...I hope to get this problem fixed but in the meantime, am I correct with my understanding?
    Thank you,
    Barb

  10. Bonnie, what is the name of the blue and white block with the words: Don't let your comfort zone hold you back? My great grandmother made a similar quilt block; I took the quilt to an appraiser and she couldn't find any blocks like it to give a name to the block.
