Evening Edition! Quilt in the Mail & Free Kindle Book!

Remember me bopping to Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” through my ear buds while sewing hexies in the Quad Cities airport yesterday?

Was that only YESTERDAY!? It feels like a week since then!

And now I feel like quite the zombie myself – but in a very good way. I took some time out today to go run some errands, made it easy on myself and did the drive –up banking instead of the walk-inside kind, and then I set off for a much needed massage.

Sometimes – you just have to schedule it in and stick with it..and schedule the next one when you are done ---- because if I don’t have one on the calendar, I can’t ever seem to find the time to put it there ---I keep putting it off.

90 minutes of bliss mixed with a bit of deep tissue pain – I’m still having nerve pain down the back of my right leg ---it’s combination muscular, and combination chiropractic – so I’ll be seeing the chiro on Monday.

I’ve done laundry. I’ve tackled backlogged emails and worked on the website and got the calendar back up to date. And yes --- I opened up the calendar for 2016 because things are filling that way.

I cleaned my kitchen! I moved some stuff off the dining room table….

The best part of the day came when I opened this box!

My friend Debi knows how I feel about vintage quilts, even the non-perfect well worn ones ----because THOSE are the ones I love the best! She’s moved recently, she’s whittled down, and changed her decorating scheme in her house, and when it came time to find a new home for this baby, she thought of me!

I love how this one is quilted, can you see it in the solid blue squares?

Thank you Debi!!

Doesn’t it look great hanging over my railing? And do you see how green things are getting down south here? Sad story --- the plot of thick woods behind mine --- across the creek…have all been felled and sold off for wood! I am SO SAD. Mostly because I love the thick dense woods and the birds they provide a place for…but also because where I couldn’t see houses before because of the thick woods --- now I can. :c( It looks like they’ve planted again, but I doubt they will grow fast enough to give me the seclusion that I like!

Not to mention now I’ll have to be extra careful going out to that hot tub on our gazebo because now it’s in plain view thanks to no trees down there :c/

So on to the freebie….of course it was the title that grabbed me. How could it not with the word THREAD coming first?

Book Description:

If someone took your child, how soon would you stop looking for her? If someone accused your best friend of a terrible crime, when would you stop defending him?

Seven years after Joe Tyler’s daughter Elizabeth was abducted, he hasn’t stopped looking for answers, and he hasn’t forgotten the friend who stood by him as he lost his wife, his home, and his career in his search. Now he’s been brought back to San Diego by the news that this friend has been arrested for beating up a teenage girl—a girl not much older than Elizabeth would be now.

Joe is convinced Chuck Winslow is innocent, but Chuck is in a coma and can’t explain what happened. And the more Joe hears about what Chuck’s been up to in the years he’s been gone, the less Joe recognizes his old friend. To find out the truth, he will have to face his ex-wife, his former bosses, and a hometown full of wealth, lies, and illicit privilege. When Chuck’s accuser goes missing, Joe must decide where his loyalties truly lie.

Jeff Shelby is the best-selling author of The Noah Braddock series (Killer Swell, Wicked Break and Liquid Smoke) and has been compared by reviewers to Harlan Coben and Robert Crais. In Thread of Hope, he delivers a gut-wrenching tale of painful secrets and even more devastating truths as well as an exploration of how a single thread of hope can keep one man going.

I just picked it up --- double check it’s still free for you before clicking. By morning it may be free for “prime members only” I don’t have control over that – I just pass on what I download for myself thinking someone else might enjoy it!

Have a great Thursday evening, Everyone!

  1. Your home has always appeared to be nestled in a little forest from the photos you have shared. I didn't realize there were houses nearby. Bummer about the hot tub. It would be better with out a view of the neighbors, and their view of you! : )

  2. I'm so sorry about your trees. The reason we bought our house is because of all the mature trees in the neighborhood and our lot.
I know you'll really miss them this summer with their cooling shade all gone :0(.

Love the beautiful blue quilt it reminds me of Wedgewood china.
    Lovely gift!

    Happy Sewing

The quilt is lovely and my favorite color. I feel bad about your trees being cut. I would so miss all my trees. I am surrounded by trees and love it at home and at camp.

Just loved your blue and white gift quilt from Debi, with its softness and age. Doesn't everyone love a blue and quilt when they see it? I look forward to your column every month in Quiltmaker. So many quilting ideas. Stephani in TX (Tomazec@aol.com)

Bonnie, I really like that blue and white quilt, thinking I may just have to make one. Bummer about the trees, they are my favorite thing in all the earth. So much time to grow one, too little time to remove it. Glad you enjoyed your massage; I do the same thing, schedule next month's time right after this month's pleasure.
Hope your back will feel better after the chiro visit.
    Best to ya....

GEEEEEE WHIZ! YOu think you have reste dsome. Sounds like you camae home to even more work lolol. Massages always feel soo good. I just can not do a thing afterwards.

OH BONNIE - I hear you about the trees. Many folks do that as part of the family's income. Our daughter in AL has over 240 acres on a river. She and her DH had some hardwoods culled. But nothing like cutting every tree! Were they pines? Paper products if they were.

Take some time for yourself and family. Rest up, relax and BAKE! Always feel good to bake something yummy.

    HAPPY EASTER

  12. I don't know which makes me more envious, the quilt or the greenery....
Around my house too where cut a lot of trees, and while I have just a field on that side I lost a lot of winter wind protection. The undergrowth comes back quite quickly, and at least in summer it looks quite green and closed. It will be faster in your warmer climate.
Get some trellis for a hot tub screen, movable perhaps.

  13. It is so sad when wooded areas are destroyed. Two years ago when the owner of the acreage behind us died and his sons decided to clear and break it up into lots for new homes! We dealt with weeks of buldozers and smokey air as they piled up and burned off the debris. We got VERY lucky in that the area directly behind us was too steep and uneven and would require LOTS of grading to make useable for a home. The neighbors on either side of us weren't so lucky. Only a few of those lots have been sold and homes built but thankfully they are closer to the road up there rather thatn to our property lines so privacy issues haven't changed much... just the view and our decreased bird population and visiting wildlife. We haven't seen the deer or red fox families we used to.

  15. What a gift! It's sad that we seem to be cutting down so many trees in the name of progress.
That book sounds really good. I'm putting it on my reading list.
