It hit nearly 70 yesterday!
And you know what that meant - I headed out, away from my desk come mid-afternoon to go see what I could see at my closest favorite spot to walk.
I hadn't been down here since fall, and I was eager to see just what was what -
This is where I park my car - off the side of the road, and just start walking along Wilson Creek. This is the same creek that flows behind the inn, but since the hurricane, things have really changed. We've lost so many trees.
Wilson Creek flows right into the New River at this point (That's why we are called Mouth of Wilson!) and big blue waters opened up to big blue sky as I continued my way down and around...
And up!
And somehow I caught that sunbeam in my photo - I'll take it!
I wondered if these trees rooted to rocks would still be standing - and they are!

Soon this grass will turn green and trees will have leaves.
It's like saying hello to old friends I haven't seen in a while!
Evening home sewing time.
One block -
Became three blocks -
The number of blocks needed keeps going down by twos and threes - but those sawtooth sashings? I'm still buried under the more than 70 that I need to get the job done. It will get there.
I love sticking in silly fabrics!
Mr. Potatohead faces? Yes please!
And a bit of Lola the Scrap Compactor in the bin next to me -
All in all a very good day and I'm so glad for some sunshine and a break in the winter weather. I know we have a way to go before spring truly arrives, but we are getting closer.
Today the Richmond Express group arrives - some last minute things to do aver at the inn. I'm anxious for their arrival.
I think the weather will be nice enough to even spruce up the porch a bit, so that is on the agenda as well.
What's up for your day?

Have a wonderful Wednesday, everyone -

Congratulations on your birthday 🥳 What a beautiful place you live in, nature and freedom just around the corner. Love the log cabin blocks, so colorful and fun fabrics. Cheers from the Netherlands. ShirleyJ
ReplyDeleteGreat that you could get a nice walk in. Oregon is just having rain for the foreseeable future. The quote quilt looks like it was done in satin ribbons..
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to seeing what the Richmond Express gals are up to. Have a good day.
MaryAnn from soggy Willamette Valley, Oregon
What is the story behind the pineapple block quilt with today's quote? It is beautiful!! Is it made with silk fabric?
ReplyDeleteLove pictures of your walk! Lola is so cute holding down the pieces for you. :-) Jenny
ReplyDeleteI love when you take us on your walk. My Tulips are getting ready to bloom. I saw crocuses in Tri-cities last week. Rainy today. A good day for webbing Old Town and sewing the borders.. 2 week until Quilt show.
ReplyDeleteLove seeing the blooms and the source of your area’s name! Bonnie B
ReplyDeleteThe quilt behind your quote for the day is so interesting. Can you tell us a bit about it? Barbara
