The guys have been hard at work replacing the porch railings on our porch/deck.
It's been a monstrous job - and they are getting it done - one section at a time.
Time is running out, there is a bit of a deadline coming around, or at least a big delay as Hubster Dave is scheduled for hand surgery on Friday.
The wire mesh really does open up the view!
The gate at the top of the stairs is now done -
This is the section that is left -
The part that surrounds our hot tub.
There are some big posts that were rotting that need to be replaced, so that is next on the list...and then building the last few sections of railing.
And it looks like there will be loads of kindling.
Or garden stakes?
Just knowing that we won't be faced with ever having to stain these slats again makes me happy.
And I'm also happy that we won the battle on keeping the wire natural so that we never have to paint that ever...winning!
Yesterday as an office desk day for me - we've got exciting things coming down the pipeline.
I also fit in a photo shoot for Waterford. Take a look:
Be watching for Waterford to release on Monday, March 17th - St. Patrick's Day!
Did you know? We may associate Ireland with the color green, but blue is the official color of Ireland in heraldic terms, and blue is the color of the coat of arms of the Republic of Ireland.
Blue is also associated with St. Patrick, Ireland's patron saint. That even makes releasing Waterford on St. Patrick's Day even more perfect especially since this quilt design was inspired by a tile floor I saw while in Ireland.
Even on days like yesterday though, it's safe to assume that by evening time there was a hoop in my lap and I was putting in more hand quilting stitches.
I've even been prepping my busy bag with what I need to take with me for Dave's surgery on Friday. Hexies, audiobook, earbuds, extra phone battery pack, gum, water bottle...all I need is a comfy chair with halfway decent lighting.
Also today - prepping towel baskets for the incoming Richmond Express group who will be checking in at Quiltville Inn on Wednesday afternoon.
Time to make all the things shine!
What's up for your day today?
This is also currently going on!

Quiltville Quote of the Day -
Just be sure to check that your last chain of 100 units haven't been air-sewn while running on empty!
Have a terrific Tuesday, everyone!
Bonnie, ger yourself a neck light for your go bag! Then you will always have a good light to sew by. Amazon of course but even Home Depot and like stores. https://www.amazon.com/Gritin-Dimmable-Brightness-Comfortable-Lightweight/dp/B0CBMKLC84?th=1
ReplyDeleteDon't forget snacks. Hospital food can be dicey......
ReplyDeleteJust recovering from hand surgery myself, 2 1/2 weeks post op! Good luck Dave.
ReplyDeleteYour deck looks fabulous! Thank you Bonnie for all that you do, quilting and supporting our common values! 💙🇺🇦
Love that old quilt, first design I have seen like that. Love the new Waterford and the pictures are a good contrast for the bleak background. Thanks for the blog.
ReplyDeleteLove love love your porch, and the new rail looks fantastic! Nice job guys!
ReplyDeleteGood luck on hand surgery, Dave, and I hope you have a speedy recovery.
Waterford is very pretty. I've been working on a FPP project recently, but today I'm going to sew on Old Town to move it forward some. :-)
"Arisewn" is my new favorite word, if not favorite experience. Good luck on the surgery, our hands are so important! A healthy snack or three would be a good addition to your survival kit - I think hospital food is intended to grow their customer base.

When you get him home, keep his hand above his heart in case they don't tell you. The hand will throb otherwise. Just keep the hand on the opposite shoulder' Worked in an OR for 42 years, no some crazy person.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful quilt.
ReplyDeleteMy thought was "At least they have a fabulous view while they are working!" I absolutely love your porch, and the new fence is looking amazing. Great job, men!
ReplyDeleteI also am loving Waterford, and will definitely be adding that to my list!
Today I am working on a baby quilt top. Hoping to make one more before heading to the long arm machine with them! Have a terrific Tuesday yourself! :)
We used to have the same blue in our Waterford wood burning stove. Yes, they make wonderful stoves and we chose a deep blue one. Miss it along with the cabin we sold.
