It's been "Bipolar Season" in Southwestern Virginia over the past couple of weeks.
The dang weather doesn't know quite what it wants to be doing.
And on this afternoon we donned jackets and sweaters and headed out to the porch for some quilty photo fun because - at least the wind wasn't blowing a million miles a minute!
Scrappy and Flashy everywhere!
At the Left is Rockabilly Swing followed by a wonderfully scrappy medallion - two sisters on retreat with friends!
En Provence made by Shirley and some more scrappy triangles! Honestly, I don't know if this is Ann's or Sally's! I can't keep it all straight most days. Too much lint in my brain.
But we got a bit of extra share on Shirley's En Provence -
She pieced the back from her mom & dad's shirts - so special!
She remembers her mom wearing this floral stripe blouse.
The machine quilted Baptist Fans are perfect for this quilt.
I love the details on her corner label.
Some more cuties!
If you know the name of Lynne's quilt on the left, please leave it in the comments below - and yes - she was working on that binding in the Hen Den while here.
Here's a full view of the fun and scrappy Autumn sampler!
List it in the comments please!
Chilhowie and Indigo Way finishes!
Well done, ladies!
Perfect for St. Paddy's Day - here's Emerald City from String Frenzy next to a marvelous swirling Log Cabin Design that reminds me of Judy Martin. Do you know this one? Put the info in the comments please!
Projects too little for the porch -
Shirley is making these wonderful monochrome placemats using the Wild & Goosey block from my Addicted to Scraps book. What a great idea! Those orange ones are just delicious!
Stitching Vanilla Pineapples while daffodils bloom beyond the window -
Have you made a neutrals only quilt?
I haven't yet - but who knows!
Another Emerald City from String Frenzy happening here!
And a third coming together here!
And some luscious star blocks - aren't they yummy?
We took a field trip to come visit my studio next door!
Lynne's hubby Mark makes beautiful fused glass art, and we each received a one of a kind glass bowl from them - such a special gift!
Ladies, it was WONDERFUL to have you here - power outage and other exciting mishaps and all!
We'll see you back again next March.
Yesterday was spent finishing up laundry and getting things ready for today's arrivals - Irene's Sewciologists from Cotton To Quilts!
One day seems to just go into the next and I grab some stitching time where I can. Today's forecast is 73 and sunny. but as bipolar season goes, we'll be back in the 40s by Friday.
The quilters will be inside and quilting up their own kind of quilty storm, so we'll ride it out together.
There are a lot of other things happening on the blog right now.

Did you catch this fro yesterday's post?
My friend Bruce Leonard's newest Hadley Carroll novel Quilt City: Safety Second is joining the line up of other fun quilty mystery titles, continuing the story of Hadley's adventures in Paducah Kentucky.
I'll be giving away 3 copies of Quilt City: Safety Second so head to that post and get your entry in.
In case you missed it - this happened and is on-going!
My Waterford PDF pattern is now available in the Quiltville Store with an automatic 25% introductory discount good through 3/31/25.
It was inspired by a tile floor I photographed on my last trip to Ireland, when we took our Craftours group to the Waterford Crystal showroom in Waterford.
Waterford measures 80'' X 80'', but is easily made smaller or larger just by changing the number of blocks.
And yes, there is a Gift-Away!
I'll be drawing for two winners who will each receive a Waterford PDF pattern from me and a Notable Neutrals fabric roll from our friends at Cotton to Quilts
Get your entry in on That Post!
We'll draw for those winners on 3/29/25. Whew!
The world is full of too much "Hurry up already!"
Some of the best things take a slower pace, but the end result will be so worth it!
Quilting taught me this is true! How about you?
Have a wonderful Wednesday, everyone -

Love the "over the rail" pics. The Wild and Goseey placemats are fantastic. And done in the colors of fruit. Win, win.
ReplyDeleteI would gladly take your “bipolar” weather. It’s way better than the quarter to golf-ball-sized hail we had in Kentucky this past Saturday in the wee hours of the morning. So much destruction on homes and cars. Very sad. Sue
ReplyDeleteSuch beautiful quilts. Kudos to the Richmond Express quilters. We here in Michigan are living thru "second false spring," to be followed tomorrow by "third winter." Gotta roll with Mother Nature.
ReplyDeleteThe curvy log cabin is a pattern from Cut Loose Press, and is called Rainbow Swirls.
ReplyDeleteThank you for that info ❤️
DeleteLovely projects and finishes, Ladies!
ReplyDeleteI think Spring changed it's mind here in Kansas. Today mid-morning it's 36 F degrees with expected rain/snow this afternoon. I'll be staying in and quilting! Jenny
What an AWESOME porch shot!! I absolutely loved all of them, but my favorites where the Rockabilly Swing and the En Provence different color way! The Vanilla Pineapples will be beautiful when it's finished. Always inspirational posts. We are in high "fire watch" because of the winds and it being so dry. We have been praying for rain in South Central Texas. Safe travels to those coming and going! Happy sewing! :-)
