Out On The Porch!

The sunshine did not disappoint as we stepped out onto the porch with quilts (And jackets!) for our first photo-op over the porch rail of 2025.

We weren't sure we were going to be able to do it - it's been dreadfully cold and really windy - but here they are!

It's been wonderful having the March Quiltvillians in residence at Quiltville Inn over the past week.

They really put the pedal to the metal and kept the churning out of  precious things going!

Some things don't show well over the rail - so here for your "awwww cute!" response are Sharon's bunny bags in preparation for easter.  No pattern - personal design.

At first I wasn't sure what the thing on the right was - a plug?  A flower?  But later in the day I wandered in to find this Lori Holt design finish:

Dang, this is cute!

But why is an iron significant for this retreat?

Because this is the 6th retreat of the March Quiltvillians - and you know what the 6th anniversary gift is supposed to be?

IRON!!  As in iron the metal.  But as quilters, we understand this kind of iron much better.  LOL!

This was a top center the day before -

I walked in to see borders had been added!

This is something really cool in progress -

It looks like kitty ears to me!

There were a couple of variations of this scrappy quilt being made - all from saved cut off corners from other projects. Fun idea!

Of course folks were hustling to get tops together - or at least a section big enough for sharing over the rail.

Michelle finished the center of Butterfly Kisses just in the nick of time!

She used her saved collection of Ricky Tims hand-dyes and some others in this creation.  It's beautiful!

We laugh every time Rebecca brought her grape Blue Ridge Beauty from Adventures With Leaders & Enders to retreat, wondering if we'd ever see it make top status (It's been a giggle for a while now.)

This time one section became two - and now the top half of the quilt is together.  Is it big enough for the rail? Oh yes!

Well worth sharing!

Cute pastel hearts - so springy!

(No pattern info)

Autumn quilt, basket quilt, and Midnight Flight from MORE Adventures With Leaders & Enders!

Two fun scrappies!

If you know the pattern info on either of these, please leave it in the comments section below.

I had a close up of the two at the far left - but the sunbeams came through the photo and everything was not a good shot!! But you can see part of Bristol followed by a large star in Kaffe fabrics, the two scrappies shown in close up above, and Chilhowie on the right.

And the whole shebang!

Thanks for a marvelous visit, everyone!  We'll see you back next March!

(Maybe it will be warmer next time? Who knows!)

Quiltville Quote of the Day -

It's okay - in this crazy to-do-list driven life - to cut yourself enough slack and allow yourself some time to relax, recharge, rejuvenate. ⁣
Sometimes we need to stand still and re-evaluate that to-do list to find out if the things on it are serving us, or keeping us busy for the sake of busy and away from where we want to be. ⁣
Take the 5 minutes - or more as needed - you deserve it!

And I'll likely be taking my 5 minutes in between flipping loads of laundry from washer to dryer and prepping the inn for our next arriving group!

Have a terrificTuesday, everyone.

  3. 5 minutes turns to Hours and days of Creativity. I'm up early to get it done. I make a list of what gets done instead of a to do list. Lol

  4. For Rebecca - My Blue Ridge Beauty took years. I was begging fabric scraps everytime I went to a retreat or other event. Don't feel bad. Be like Dory - Just keep swimming!!

In case anyone is looking for a free pattern to make similar bunny ear bags, there is one by SewCanShe called Bunny Treat Bags. I’ve made them before for a kindergarten class. The work up really cute using charm squares. Sue
