Little Time For Sewing -

Yesterday on the way to Hubster Dave's colonoscopy (How's that for an opening line? LOL!) we were laughing in the car about all of the medical stuff there had been in just the past two weeks.

He has been dealing with a crown replacement - which didn't fit when he went in to have it put on (This is after the temporary didn't stay glued in place either.) and he now has an appointment next week to get that sorted.

He'd been to the ortho guy after being at the hospital for an MRI of his wrist, and then passing out after an injection in the doc's office -

This was on the tail end (ha!) of my own colonoscopy - and then his yesterday, scheduled a week apart so we could be drivers for each other.

The piecing photo at the top of this post being placed there because I didn't think he'd want this one splashed all over the internet:

Everything went as well as could be expected and he doesn't have to go back for 5 years.

But all of this driving back and forth to town for medical stuff -

When did this become the equivalent of our social life? More on that at the end of this post.

I had ONE HOUR to just put some soft music on and stitch a bit while waiting for the Stitch Mob girls to start arriving.

This was my peace to the chaotic week we've had.

I have two block quarters left to make (Today?) and I can put this top together and get it off the floor.

Diamond Tiles is done.  And this is actually Diamond Tiles #2 started with the leftover blocks from Diamond Tiles #1 that I never released because it was going to go into a possible book - which is not.

So guess what?  I'll be releasing BOTH of them together in the same pattern before I leave to Kenya in about 3 weeks.  So stay tuned for this one. And I'll get a photo of the other - soon.  Like really soon.

Time is flying and I can't believe I'll be flying - to KENYA - in about 3 weeks.

Also up on deck is to make the Twiga kits my travelers will need for our little workshop. I'm so excited!

I'm also hoping that the medical appointment routine is done for a while so I can spend more time working on projects.

How many of you remember this blast from the past?

"Time to get this quilt off the design floor! Webbing in progress! Catching up with some Call the Midwife in South Africa!"

I posted this SEVEN YEARS ago in my basement studio in our old Wallburg house!

Indigo A Go-Go is found in String Frenzy.  Did you start one? Did you finish one?  If not - how about pulling it out and finishing it up?

The pattern release of  Eclipsed has been absolutely phenomenal! Thank you!

The one thing I've had emails on is folks outside of the USA having trouble with the Buy Now button as it uses autofill and as they are international, they then get a message saying that we don't ship outside of the USA.

PDF patterns are not shipped. There is no problem if you simply add the item to the shopping cart, then click to the shopping cart and choose either your PayPal or Credit Card option.  It should process just fine from there. It has something to do with purchasing digital files with the BUY NOW button if you are international.

Do not use the Buy Now button.  Add the item to your cart and then click the cart and check out the normal way.

Sorry for the headache - but give this a try and see if it works for you.

Also - if you've downloaded and can't find where your PDF went on your device - do a SEARCH by pattern name. Most of my issues come from iPhone/iPad users who don't know where to look.

How to find a PDF on an iPhone in Files.

The broadest place to look for your PDF is in the Files app. You’ll be able to find it there if it’s on your iPhone.

  1. Open the Files app.
  2. Tap Browse > On My iPhone.
  3. Search your folders for the PDF.

It’s very likely that the PDF ended up in the Downloads folder, so search there first.

How to search for PDF files on an iPhone.

Using the search function on your iPhone might be one of the simplest ways to find the PDF that you’ve downloaded. Here are the steps for using the search function:

  1. Swipe down to find the search field.
  2. Enter the name of the PDF into the search field.
  3. Tap Show More to scroll further through searches.
I really hope this helps!

Mary try drinking 12 oz. of water before going for blood work. My doctor told me that little trick. It really helps those veins pop for them.

I also increase my water intake the day before but my biggest winner is prepping my arm with a heat pack for 15 - 30 mins before needlestick. You have probably made heat packs, I use scrap fabric to make 12" x 8" bag then 3/4 fill with wheat & sew shut. 90 - 120 secs in the microwave to make those veins pop up & also great to use for pain too.

Thanks for sharing that you both had colonoscopies. Colon cancer is so prevalent and so preventable. Hopefully someone will read your post and decide to make an appointment. You are saving lives..

Thank you Bonnie for all you do for us. I finished my Twiga. I make my sweetie a pillow every year for his birthday and just learned he likes giraffes.

You are experiencing "Medical Appointment Fatigue". It's a real thing! I remind myself it's a privilege many do not have, but still it can be weary-ing.

  11. I always said that I wouldn't be one of "those" old ladies that seemed to talk about their ailments all the time but now I see why that happens. LOL It does tend to take over our lives at times, doesn't it? Diamond Tile is looking good and seeing Indigo A Go-Go reminds me that I had a plan for that one once upon a time!

If it wasn't for medical appointments at our house, there would be no need for the calendar app on our phones. Gets worse every year, but we wouldn't be 88 and 90 without them. Grateful for the extra years many don't get to enjoy.

Love that pink Atlas! I need to get mine out for a little stitching!

  14. I know what you mean... when I can't sit & sew (even though that's all I want to do) I get ansy. I hope that things calm down for you soon. Glad everything went well with the Hubs & hoping he gets everything straightened out soon!
I'm hoping to get some serious stitching time this weekend. I haven't had any in a while. It's my "self care!" I think that as long as everything goes ok tomorrow we can safely say that we have survived the first full week of school!! Barely, but we did it! Have a good evening!

  15. Doctor says no more ibuprofen for me after last month's heart attack. Only Tylenol, which, of course, doesn't work as well for me. Hopefully, I can do some sewing soon. Love that Eclipse pattern.

  16. I go with my hubby on every appt. I ask questions. When he would go by himself. I would ask what the dr said, the usual response was everything is fine! Love the picture of the Atlas, my Mom had one.

Haven't you gotten the memo about retirement? We retire so that we have time to go to all of those medical appointments!
