Sew All The Scraps!

Last evening I had some time to sew - and not only that, I found I had the energy to do it, which is another bonus I don't take for granted.

I had also uncovered a bag of 1 1/2'' strips I had trimmed from random leftover charm pack squares.

Short and stubby, something needed to happen with these and So I decided that making some strip units as prep for our current Oopsie Daisie Leader & Ender challenge was the way to go.

Stitch and press and stitch some more.

When a job seems overwhelming (Or sometimes underwhelming and we just can't make ourselves want to do it!) break it down into smaller parts.

I don't have a clue how many units I made.

I still have to trim them.

I still need to prep the corners for them.

But I am one step closer than I was when I started last evening, And I'll soon have sets by my machine to use as Leaders & Enders while I work on other things.

Maybe tonight I'll feel the urge to stand at the cutting table to trim these to size and prep those corners?

At any rate - the stack of short and stubby strips is smaller (Though there are some left for another go-round in the future) and I'm one step closer to putting these to work for me.

How are you coming on yours?

All around the Quilting Quarters at the inn there is evidence of Christmas in July happening!

There has been wearing of tiaras - and evidently sparkly reindeer antlers!

Projects are growing in this corner!

Autumn is right around the corner!

This is going to be gorgeous -

Betsy, caught in the act of playing with triangles!

I love how the colors pinwheel out from the center!

Two trees decorate the room!

One tree hangs between the pressing tables, and another between the cutting tables - so festive!

And of course meals on the porch have been wonderful.

I seem to be in a recipe collecting mood lately - wanting to break up my own monotony at home and taking photos of recipe cards for inspiration.

Yesterday we were served a delicious gazpacho for lunch - and it is perfect for the garden abundance that will soon be happening for many, if it isn't already.

There are even some notes on making a BIGGER batch (1 1/2 times the regular batch) if you are serving a large crowd such as ours.

I'm sure there are other garden veggies that could be added as well!

This was so refreshing served with hot rolls fresh from the oven.

I have added the Corn Chowder, BBQ Pulled Pork (Instant Pot) and today's Gazpacho recipes to the recipes tab at the top of the blog.

I understand there was cookie decorating last night - hopefully someone took photos.

Today's big job - Tula to the vet.

Making the crate a safe space.

We've been working with her over the past few days by leaving her crate on the porch and putting her treats just inside the propped open door.

In and out and in and out she has gone.....and this morning I received a text that Chris had given her "lots of loving pets, then put her water inside and shut the door."

She is ready for me to take to the vet this morning - hooray!

Now the question is...will she still accept the crate as a place for treats after I have hauled her to the vet and back in it?

The whole scenario reminds me of my childhood fear:

Absolutely the most terrifying scene of my childhood -

The child catcher from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.  LOL!

But what must be done must be done.  And I'll have her back where she belongs by mid afternoon.

  4. Today is Raffle Quilt assembly day. Lots of 6" and 12" blocks to create a quilt worthy of the ticket. Haven't been involved like this for years. New Guild friends to work with. Fun Saturday in my book, then a picnic.
