Do you remember when I was digging in and making this quilt?
"It's not like you!" "This is different for you!" they said.
Au contraire, mon amis!
I have loved solids since I first fell in love with Amish style quilts in the 1980s, and they've had a place in my quilting life here and there all along the way.
My escapades in solids tended to be of the small quilt/wall hanging variety - but through the years I amassed solid scraps enough to fill this bin:
Oh my. What a jumbled up mess!
My first thought was that I could just do a scrappy log cabin and sew this all away. Or perhaps another solids string quilt??
"Been there, done that too" as they say.
It doesn't look so bad when it is all cut and kitted up!
The Butterfly block comes from a favorite antique quilt in my collection - it hangs over the stair rail here at the cabin. It's set with plain alternate blocks - but I knew this block would have so many more bells and whistles if I set it straight, block to block with some rotation.
Big beginnings taking shape!
Of COURSE I had to bind it in red - it was a no brainer!
Such great texture!
Sew Many Solids!
If you love solids like I do, this is the quilt to let your love shine! Easy optional construction methods, 8 pages of instruction with full-color photos, graphics, tips, techniques and more.
Quilt Size: 71’’ X 71’’
Optional but helpful: I used my Essential Triangle Tool to make all of the many half-square triangles in this quilt from 2 strip widths.
Traditional rotary cutting methods are given for those who don't have access to these rulers.
If you used my Essential Triangle tool during our Chilhowie mystery, you've already got this down!
To kick all of this scrappy fun off big time, I've placed Butterfly Kisses at 25% off in both the the Quiltville Store and the Quiltville Etsy Pattern Shop through 2/28/23.
And of course, we are having a Gift-Away!
This solids color roll is just the ticket to pump up your solids collection and add some pizazz!
Good luck everyone! We'll be drawing for our two winners on Monday, 2/27/23!
LOOK!!
Oh my goodness, I am so excited.
After the February Quiltvillians had all headed home, I had a day of back and forth to flip loads of laundry from washer to dryer, and dryer to bedrooms.
I walked the back way from the QPO up behind the back porch and look what I saw heading down the bank toward the creek - DAFFIES read to burst!
Oh yes, oh yes, oh yes!
Grow babies, grow!
It's coming, y'all - it's coming! Spring is on the way in Southwestern Virginia!
Quiltville Quote of the Day -
Worrying can't stop the bad stuff from happening, but it can stop you from enjoying the good.
Don't let worry steal your peace.
Vintage Lemoyne star quilt found in Texas.
Have a wonderful Wednesday, everyone!
