Bonnie, HollyAnne & the Daylight Holiday Bundle!

Up on the roof top – click, click, click! Down through the chimney with Old Saint Nick!

Can you tell I’m feeling festive?!

YES I am!

And today is one of the reasons why.

I have teamed up with HollyAnne of String & Story and The Daylight Company to present to you a gift away of truly EPIC proportions!

I met HollyAnne through instagram when she was posting about how she was quilting her En Provence quilt.  I absolutely loved how she talked about the whole process encouraging newer quilters to get their feet wet with free motion quilting, because YOU CAN DO IT.

She is also offering webinars on machine quilting so you can learn to do it from home, but more on that later….

And she has two cute sons, some very cute cats, AND..she loves vintage sewing machines.  I love this girl!

I have loved my Daylight lamps for the past couple of years.  I first came upon them while teaching at a Craftours Cocoon in Illinois, and I bought two desktop lamps there.

Later on while teaching on a cruise, I purchased two floor models for my hand stitching chairs because I loved the desk models so much.

And that is where The Daylight Company comes in.

I said Epic.  And I mean EPIC!

(See how much light?  All the other lights in the room were off except for my tiny tree!)

I posted this video as a teaser earlier: Click to play:

And this is what I was making beneath my Daylight this weekend at the cabin. Click to play:

-1 "ticket" to ONE of my January 2018 one-day online workshops, hosted on Facebook. Choices of workshop include:
-Beginner FMQ (January 6): Move past the meander and begin adding custom quilting to your projects. Course will include an introduction to making a quilting plan, 10 motifs to doodle and stitch, a live Q&A session to troubleshoot any free motion hiccups, and lots of encouragement and feedback because it is my job to guide you to quilt with confidence.
-Introduction to Color Theory (January 13): Fabric can be the most fun and the most frightening part of the creative process. However, understanding color and pattern can turn pulling fabric into a full force party-- even for the scrappiest of scrappy quilts. Color theory explains why some colors struggle to "play nice" and will give you a strong foundation to confidently choose fabrics even for the most complicated projects.
         - How to Make a Quilting Plan (January 20): You are head over heels in love with your quilt top, and you're feeling pretty good about your free motion quilting practice, but ACK what if you wreck the quilt?? That feeling of anxiety is exactly why you need a plan for your stitches. In order to succeed at custom quilting, you need to audition your designs before you put your needle to fabric. This course will have extra emphasis on interacting as a class to brainstorm together how to quilt different tops and create multiple unique quilting plans for each top to demonstrate how different quilting can change the visual effect of the quilt.
-1 "ticket" to Rockstar Status: From Newbie to Jammin' in Your Quilting Practice, hosted on Facebook
         - The best way to improve your quilting is to practice and the best way to practice is with friends. Join me and a class full of your new quilting besties as we develop new quilting skills and quilting confidence so that you never have to be afraid of quilting your own quilts (and having them turn out beautifully!) ever again.
         - 4 week quilting intensive designed to take students from being a beginner quilter to a confident intermediate quilter
         - Each WEEK includes: 10-15 posts with tips, videos, challenges, and more, plus printable worksheets and resources and a 1 hour LIVE video Q&A
         - Course begins March 5

Finished beneath my Daylight lamp!

I hope to be piecing a backing for this today.

How about a Quilt-Cam tomorrow night, Weds, Dec 20 at 8pm Eastern?  It’s been a while.  Let’s squeeze one in!  I’ll see you in Facebook live on my Quiltville page at that time.  If you miss it, it will be embedded in Thursday morning’s post.

*NOTE*  After a phone call with Jason in South Carolina this morning, letting me know he has Thursday & Friday of this week OFF and wants to come to the cabin tomorrow evening - we may be changing our Quilt-Cam time to NOON Eastern tomorrow!

He can't come up for Christmas due to his work schedule.  I'm going into full-on mom mode and if he is coming up, then we will be moving Quilt-Cam to noon.  Either way - we'll do it!

I'll let you know for certain in tomorrow morning's blog post.

Quiltville Quote of the Day!

There are days (usually around the holidays) when I just want life to slow down. I'm tired of pacing in front of the microwave because it doesn't cook fast enough. I long for a slower more meaningful pace. Are you with me?

Today I slow down and live in the moment.

Have a great Tuesday, everyone!

  1. W.O.W. to the mother lode of gift-AWAYS!! Looking forward to Quilt Cam. Hope that backing comes together for your newest quilt top. I'm following your lead for a mindful day. Quilting for a customer and piecing on a guild mystery. All current with On Ringo Lake! Best Tuesday to you my friend! Hugs, Allison C Bayer, Plano, Texas USA

  2. Thank you for the wonderful prize pack.....such an awesome gift for some lucky soul! Merry Christmas!

  3. Wow what a wonderful bundle. Thank you for all you do! Merry Christmas from Arizona.

  4. Thanks for the chance to win this great giveaway, and Merry Christmas!

  5. Thanks for your inspiration and generosity

  6. Thanks for all your patterns. I've recently been looking for a light for piecing and FMQ.

  7. The light looks amazing.

  8. Thank you for todays quote and the reminder to savor the moments.

  9. Enjoy your family time and cabin time. MERRY CHRISTMAS.

  10. Hi Bonnie
Working on your ringo lake quilt i am slow only on the first clue but
Slow like a snail. Have made your pumpkin quilt from quiltmaker didn't
Do the border the same but what fun that was to put together thanks again
Merry Christmas to you and your family

  11. What a wonderful lineup of prizes Bonnie! Thank you all for the opportunity to win them!!!

  12. I adore my light!!!! I had to be talked into buying it because I didn't know how much I would love it!!! So between having the light and the books etc. I don't need to win the contest :) I am lucky!
My family doesn't exchange gifts, we give the gift of time and attention to each other. We all spend time making it fun for the kids. It takes a LOT of the pressure off from the holidays! Who doesn't love just doing lunch and "shopping" when there is nothing pressing to do?
I love all my books you have written Bonnie, THANKYOU!!

  13. Wonderful giveaway, would sure be super to win . Thanks for the chance and Merry Christmas to you and your family.

  14. This is so generous of you!! One of us will have a smile from the East coast to the West coast !! Chills running ALL over my body with excitement over this!!

  15. This would be the best Christmas present ever!
Thank you for your generosity! Merry Christmas!

  16. As I was finishing a quilt top at 10:30 last night, I thought I should tell you one important thing that I have learned from you. Not to hurry. It is not a race. Since I have been following that advice my quilting is a lot more enjoyable and a lot more accurate.

  17. What a wonderful giveaway! I'd be thrilled to be the lucky winner! Enjoy your time with your son. Whatever time you are able to get together will be wonderful and Christmas-y. It's the ones you are with, not the specific day that makes for an extra special holiday.

  18. I can't imagine a better Christmas gift, unless it would be that puppy we adopted 3 weeks ago, lol! I'd LOVE to try the Slimline lamp, that looks fabulous! Enjoy the time you have, slow down and try not to do too much, let others help YOU for a change! Merry Christmas!

  19. I am totally with you on that and work hard on the "slow down and be present" process every single day!

  20. Family is way more important than #quiltcam! I'll be at work but happy to join you in the archives.

  21. That is the end all, be all in the giveaway dept. Hope Jason makes it up and you guys get to spend some wonderful time together!! Merry Christmas, Bonnnie!

  22. How awesome is all of this!! And Jason could join in on quilt cam - don't see anything wrong with that :-)

  23. What a fab giveaway! Enjoy your Christmas with your family :). Thanks for getting my latest book and ruler purchase mailed. I really didn’t expect it till after Christmas so today’s mail was a sweet surprise. On that note .. a suggestion for a future blog .. ebooks vs hard copies. I like both for just books I’m reading for pleasure. There a few authors I will purchase hard copies of their books but there is only so much room on the bookcase so ebooks purchased or checked out thru the library is awesome. I made the mistake of purchasing your More Adventures with Leaders and Enders as an ebook. I kept seeing these wonderful quilts posted on your FB group and I kept thinking .. it seems like I bought that book just for those patterns. When I dug into my list on kindle .. sure enough there it was .. but you know I’m just not crazy about the format. Hence the reason I just purchased that book Again but this time in hard copy. For Quilt books .. I just need that hard copy in front of me. Others may have a different experience. Merry Christmas!

  24. Thank you for all you do for your family, friend and for the quilting community. Have a Merry Christmas with your family even if it can't be on the holiday. I work for an airline and holidays are always celebrated before or after the holiday date. It's the love you share not the actual date!

  25. It's a great giveaway. I thought you were teaming up with Daylight to get us to buy a lamp at a great discount. Is that still in the works?

  26. Thank you for this generous give away. I would be very happy to pay for the postage if I would win as I'm in New Zealand.
Bonnie a big thank you for all you do for the quilting community, I always look forward to receiving your blog posting. Enjoy the festive season and that you have a relaxing time.

  27. Merry Christmas, Bonnie, to you and your family. I hope you have blessedly peaceful season and get to do what ever your heart desires. Thanks for the great blog all year long and I really look forward to this year 'cause I think I get to retire!

  28. I love your finished top under the daylight lamp. Great pattern, great effect. Love how it looks like curves where there are none. Andrea from San Jose

  29. Wow - Merry Christmas and Happy New Year - looking forward to another year of inspiration.

  30. WOW, What a Great Christmas give away from all three of you! I would love to win it.

I Hope you have a wonderful Christmas and Holiday with Jason and the rest of the family. Enjoy some down time. Heaven only knows you deserve it with all you do for us!

    May God Bless You always!

    Kasilof, AK
