A Full Up House!

This retreat is off with a bang!

A bang of laughter!

This is what I walked in to find yesterday morning as the August Quiltvillians 2.0 were just sitting down to brunch in the dining room due to rain.

2.0??  Yes!  Because we have 2 groups of Quiltvillians from my Quiltville’s Open Studio group that visit in August.  The first group is at the last few days of July and crosses over into August, and these lovely ladies come about 2 weeks later.  

At  any rate, we have 6 from Iowa, 3 from Illinois, 1 from Wisconsin, and the rest is a partridge in a pear tree!

This is also getting started -

Retreaters love My Fabric Addiction pre-cut kits = it makes packing for retreat extra easy! Everything is cut and labeled, pattern included.

Lovely blues with floating center diamonds.

All of these stars have Converse shoes in the center for a grandson!

Dawn's Early Light from String Frenzy is also coming together.

There's just something about neutral string blocks that really floats my boat!

As for me, after much desk work, my afternoon looked like this. (Desk time was also ended by my having to run home and let the dogs out because it had been raining in the morning,  I lunched at home and then came back.)

String diamonds are increasing in number but scrap volume still refuses to go down.

For those asking - I drafted the star block in the size I wanted.  This is the only part that will be string pieced to paper foundations.

The setting triangles for the star are rotary cut using my Essential Triangle Tool.

The template for the diamonds will be included in the pattern when it is released, along with pattern alterations for those who refuse to Y seam. This may not be done/released before January.

They instantly look so much better when trimmed up!

Though my floor is a bit of a disaster! LOL!

Guess who started 5th grade this week?!?!

He is so happy with his new haircut that he had to send Bonana pictures.

Such a difference from our photos this past weekend!

It's the last year of elementary school.  Next year he starts middle school.  He is growing up so fast!

This mornings quiet time on the porch - no rain!

There are a couple of hummingbirds that are "regulars" around here - and they dart and weave and chase each other away from the feeders.  There are two feeders.  Two birds.  You'd think they'd each just pick one and let the other alone, but it must be some kind of fun and games for them.

Today - hoping for a dirt road hike with some quilters as we don't have rain this morning.

More string diamonds - and who knows what other kinds of trouble we can find ourselves in on this Friday!
