Surprise Quilt-Cam in the Morning!

And just like that – we gave Quilt-Cam a try from the QPO!

In the MORNING – without fanfare or announcement.  Just a trial run to see if the improved internet at the Quiltville Post Office would allow me to stream a video live through Facebook, without being blurry, without cutting out, without having my mouth move out of sync with my words.

All of those things that had proven to be a disaster the last couple of times we tried (Before summer – remember?) and failed.

To tell you the truth, I had been reluctant to try again because that fear of failure, of losing face – is real.

It has been a tough year and a half – could I get back in this saddle again?

Well, yes – if the saddle WORKED!  And we gave it a shorter time span because I had somewhere to be at 12:30pm!

And what I found was – connectivity!

And sharing!

Annette Martin chimed in and shared her Narragansett Christmas quilt from MORE Adventures with Leaders & Enders!

She writes: "I took 2 of your classes in Shipshewana in November.  I’ve finished one quilt and still working on the other.  Just wanted to say thanks for all you do and show you my finished quilt."

I love it!  How Christmassy and wonderful!

Shari sent in this photo of her beloved Aunt with the Good Fortune quilt she made and gave with all of her heart:

Beautiful colors!

She writes: “I finished my good fortune quilt in time to gift it to my dearest Auntie Alta Verdick. Unfortunately she was diagnosed with advanced lung cancer that metastasized to her brain. We lost her a couple weeks ago, but she was able to love her quilt while she had it and now my cousin will inherit this lovely quilt.”

This beautiful gift that will keep on being cherished brought about so much emotion in me – especially this time of year.  I am reminded how hard the holidays are for so many.  Whether it’s the first year without a loved one, or the second, or the 27th.  It’s just heart heavy for so many.

And that is WHY we run our Quiltville Winter Mystery this time of the year – because we all need a bit of “Comfort & Joy!”

Denise is getting a workout!

She writes: “So glad to see you on Quilt-Cam today... you may already be on your way to your errands.  I'm down to the last 4 blocks and the last border quilting Good Fortune....   I'm getting really excited to put this one in the done column before 2020 arrives.

Thank you, Bonnie for sharing so generously with us.     Frolic is waiting until I'm done with 3 quilts for my grandkids....   This is finish #2.  #3 is a complete top waiting in the wings..    Merry Christmas”

Check out that texture!  YUMMY!

And did you notice she is doing it all on her home machine?  You too can learn to Free Motion Quilt this way – be standing by for more info on Holly Anne Knight’s NEXT String & Story Free Motion Quilting Academy starting in early 2020.  Will this be the year you turn those tops into real quilts?

And what was I working on?

Remember these?

This poor tulip garden has been languishing while I’ve been tackling other deadlines.  But I’ve got spring on the brain and it is time to push these closer to a colorful finish.

I only cut out 3 sets for our little Quilt-Cam session, but it was enough to get me going on them again.

These are Kelley’s!

And look – her Shoo Fly Shoo pile is growing too!

She writes: “I sew missed quilt cam. So glad you have been able to make it work.
Sewing tulip blocks also today. And leader and ender blocks. Luv these blocks
Have a great day!"

If you’d like to stitch up a garden of Tulips as we wait for spring to arrive, you can find the pattern in my Blossom Time block pattern in the Quiltmaker Mar/Apr 2019 issue.

I’m not sure how I’m going to set mine yet – still waiting for that inspiration to come.  And we had MORE Tulip shares yesterday as well:

Sue’s Tulips!

She writes: “Here is my tulip quilt, thank you for this cute pattern.  Everyone I've shown my quilt to loves the block!!!”

I love how her setting triangles are a different color than the setting blocks, giving the appearance of an inlaid self-border.  These are wonderful, Sue!

Colleen’s!

She writes: “I love these sweet blocks and have a stack nearly ready for a top! Made several over the weekend with a group of local Bonnie Followers! We’re in Redding California!”

A huge shout out back to the gals in Redding!  Merry Christmas!

And that brings me to TODAY!

Freaking freezing cold out – and I’ve been dragging my feet with the time it takes to get this blog posted -  it was 21, I think it’s now up to 24.  I’m not going anywhere in a hurry! LOL!

Yesterday’s errands were a blast – while I thought I was dropping off plenty at the Free Market in Independence, let’s just say that I came home with more than my fair share, and way more than I bargained for. LOL!  Hang on to that thought, and I’ll be sharing more info on Saturday -

Because TOMORROW?!  It’s all about our Frolic Mystery, Part 4, baby!

It should have EVERYONE staying inside nice and cozy through the weekend.

I’m going to take a break from constantly spamming you with images of things that are on sale through the month of December, But in due text form remember:

Our Hunter’s String Star PDF pattern is 1/2 price through the month of December at only $4.00!

My newly released Bavaria/Austria project, Warm Hands, Warm Heart is available for download, in the digital pattern section of the Quiltville Store where you will also find the Sulky Stick ‘n Stitch and the Hemming Chenille needles, size 24.

I am shipping out Quiltville Quilter’s Date Keepers left and right!

They are on sale for just $9.99 through December – feature more than 70 of my quilts, full of my favorite quotes, hints, helps and tricks and perfect for gift giving.  Regularly priced at $16.95, this is quite the discount.

I also have all of the rulers on hand that we are using in our Frolic Mystery, as well as many different styles of Karen Kay Buckley Scissors if you are wanting to treat yourself to something special.

Quiltville Quote of the Day -

Feathered star found in North Carolina.

Or in other words, I am happiest when I am busy cutting up fabric and sewing it back together!

Does this describe you, too?

Time to kick this Thursday into gear!

  4. Oooh quilt cam! *dashes off to find earplugs while hubby watches a film. Thank you - there are lovely quilts shared with you on this post. Everything on hold at the moment while we sort ourselves out. Rule was no sewing until my room was tidy - it's very tidy and in between I've been sorting out stash and cutting it into usable pieces ready to go. Am enjoying the mystery so far. Cheers, and the puddytats look happy enough there. xx

  6. Thanks for Quilt Cam! I watched Holiday Inn yesterday. My favorite this time of year is A Christmas Carol the musical with Kelsey Grammer. They take some liberties with the original story but the songs are wonderful.

  7. I really think my favorite part of quilting is the cutting and sewing of little pieces. The bigger the top, the less desirable it becomes, except for the excitement that it is nearly finished! So glad you were able to make QuiltCam work. Looking forward to tomorrow morning!!

  10. Thank you so much for sharing your time with us on Quilt Cam. I’m rarely able to watch live, so I appreciate the link in your blog post. It was delightful to have you at my sewing table with me as I was trimming my clue 3 frolic units this evening. Very peaceful after a long day at work. I love your bright space, and the sweet kitties roaming about are just lovely.
