August Quilty Box Gift-Away!

IMG_20180822_203707_603000
Yes – I’m hitting the road again!

I’m on my way to Bedford Pennsylvania where I’ll be teaching a round of 6 workshops in conjunction with Mary’s Quilt Shop, owned by Mary Koval!

This has become a nearly annual event (We missed one year due to no room in the schedule) and I’m really looking forward to seeing everyone again.

Bedford is just shy of 400 miles from my house – an easy drive to arrive by dinner time.

And before we get into the Quilty Box details, I want to remind you that ALL digital patterns in the Quiltville Store are STILL 50% off through Labor Day using code AUG2018 at purchase.  Code must be used at time of purchase, no refunds if you forget, okay?

ALSO!  Thanks to your participation I have moved past the nomination phase into the voting phase of National Quilter’s Circle blogger awards as a finalist for “Best Quilting Patterns Blog” and “Best Overall Quilting Blog”.

You can lend me a hand by voting for me and also sharing the voting page to your friends and social media HERE.  Thank you so much!

Now on to the good stuff:

I spied my Quilty Box at the top of the huge pile of mail that had amassed while I was gone to England and Arizona over the past couple of weeks – and before I opened anything else, I dove right into this one!

Oooohhh!!

Oh, this looks great!

A 24’’ Fold-Away Ruler that folds down to 12’’ for travel!

(Oh yes, this has my name on it!)

foldaway1
This is just a super idea – a 24’’ ruler is so hard to take on retreat.

But one that folds to 12’’?  Weeeee!

Beautiful Terrestrial fabric bundle by Sarah Watson and of Brazil and Cloud 9 fabrics!

Inspired by the rain forests of Brazil, this 4 fat quarter and 1 yard cut fabric bundle is full of bright and vibrant blues with that pop of gold/cheddar to make it sing.  The prints feature intricate designs and bold flowers from Sarah’s surroundings. A neutral spool of Aurifil thread included!

The pattern for Sarah’s quilt Epiphyte is included in the Bundles of Inspiration magazine.

There is enough fabric in this box to make this wall hanging/lap quilt sized project.

This box has QUITE the value!

Just a bit about Sarah!

I’m going to be drawing for two lucky winners for this go-round – not only do we have a full sized Quilty Box to gift away, but also a Quilty Box mini which includes a charm pack of the Terrestrial fabric, a pattern to use with the charm pack, a spool of Aurifil thread, AND the Bundles of Inspiration magazine with the pattern for Sarah’s Epiphyte quilt to make from your own fabrics.

Are you ready to throw your name in the hat?  Good luck, everyone!

Entries will close on August 28th at 7pm, Eastern time!

This also happened yesterday – FINALLY!

*Singing*
Reunited, and it feels so good
Reunited 'cause we understood
There's one perfect fit
And, sugar, this one is it
We both are so excited 'cause we're reunited, hey, hey

Greensboro to Atlanta to JFK New York to Dublin to Birmingham. London to Dublin to JFK New York to Atlanta to Greensboro to Atlanta to Phoenix to Atlanta to Greensboro! Holy cow.

This suitcase has survived many battles, and is even wearing duct tape on one side where the outer shell cracked due to some kind of mishap between flights and baggage claims.  I’ll be looking for a new suitcase on this trip as it is time to pull this one out of commission.

Quiltville Quote of the Day.

They key for me right now is to remain flexible like a reed in a windstorm. If I stand too firmly, I'll be uprooted. Heading down the path of "just do the next right thing" will get me through this storm.

1930s Double Wedding Ring received as one of a pair of nearly identical quilts as a gift from Linda in Florida headed to Quiltville Inn, bedroom number 4!

The van is packed.  I’ve just got to get myself ready to go, and I’ll be Bedford bound within the hour.

Have a great Thursday, folks.

  1. Safe travels to Bedford. I'm sorry I have to miss your class in Bedford due to a rescheduled surgery. Time to take care of recovering and I will see you another time. Your posts remind me to enjoy the time I have with the people who are close to me. Prayers and hugs for your family.

  2. It's hard to fathom the world turning on its axis, life goes on and things get done, sometimes by rote, when the pain of transition is so deep. I believe the egret is symbolic of Mark's guardian angel, taking his soul to heaven and i think you got it right that in the end it is just that easy when you've lived the life you're meant. My heart aches for you right now, thank you for your courage in sharing your pain...Cats in Carlsbad CA

  4. Really fun Ruler for a Retreat. Also a good one for the Quiltville Inn. Were there any TSA notes left in your well-traveled suitcase. Mean handlers to damage it so bad. I got a Purple one so I could spot it on the conveyor belt. Wow 6 Workshop roadtrip!!! Be safe.

  8. The folding ruler is wonderful. Carole Fay gets Quilty Box every month and she loaned it to me for a guild sewing day. It is perfect and does not slip on the fabric. You and your entire family are always in my prayers. Hugs Debi & Rick

  12. Hello Bonnie, I'm praying for your brother and I can 2blueunderstand your happiness, to be reunited with your luggage! We met at Birmingham und you were kind enough to have a look at my quilt in the Modern department of the Quiltcompetition (Blue Moon, right in front of the Festival Theatre, made of old fabric scraps). And I'm still waiting for my Luggage, that was late on my flight back to Berlin, Germany, including "Blue Moon" and another quilt (scrappy, of course, EPP).
    The ruler is great!
    Wishing you well

  13. I love the message of doing "the next right thing"--I'll share that with my niece who is making Big Life Decisions while still going through the day-to-day ups and downs that come with being a responsible adult, far from those of us who love her. My own guiding principle is akin to it: Do What Matters Most, and you've done that, too, and you keep on doing it, tending to the day-to-day. That keeps us moving forward during the times when we might otherwise buckle because we're so insistently trying to lock our knees to hold ourselves in place.

  14. I just found your blog today so this is the first post I'm reading. Congratulations on being showcased in Quilty Box...what a great achievement. I noticed you went to Savannah School of Art. I love Savannah so much and if I had to do it all over again, would have considered going to school there. :-)

  17. Glad you (finally!) got your luggage back Bonnie. You are a wunderkind, keeping on keeping on as you do. I hope you get some time to reunite with your also-travelling-for-work husband, as I'm sure he's a huge support for you as you live through this trying time. My prayers for Mark, his family, you and yours. Good luck on your retreat teaching. Thanks for all you do, Bonnie, it's a wonderful distraction from my own crises these days with my little brother's illness (cancer is a cruel disease, isn't it? On the entire family. Sigh). And in supporting you the only way I know how, I've bought the digital versions of your three quilt patterns which are my favourites: En Provence, Alletaire, and Grand Illusion. Not sure I'll ever be able to make them all, but hopefully someday. They look so stunning!
