Seeing Spots!

deer1
Things I love about cabin life…BABY DEER!

We all squealed this morning when going through the photos of our wildlife cam that is mounted on a tree in front of the cabin.

We’ve got a few does that like to wander through the yard at different times of the day, but it’s usually just before daylight, or just past dark, and therefor the photos are usually in the realm of black/white and very much in the shadows.

If you can tell by the date on this one…it was just a few days ago at 8:28 am!

So super cute!!

I guess there is a reason why my road is named Doe Run on Buck Mountain!

Sadie and I enjoyed a long morning walk!

Jason arrived last night around 9pm – we visited a while before I just had to go to bed – but today – today I spend with my son.  There is 4 wheeler riding planned….quilting will have to wait.  We are hitting the trails!  ((Yes, lots of bug spray happening too!  Curse you, chiggers!))

Binding stitched last night!

This is the BACK SIDE of a quilt I’m taking to Golden, Colorado with me next month ---can’t wait until AFTER the tapings are done so I can show you the full quilt!

  1. I would love to live in an area were deer walked freely and unafraid! My brother lives in a community called Doe Valley and his wife feeds them. They are all over the place. Enjoy your day with your son. No tumblers for me right now, I'm using Idaho Square Dance for my leaders and enders.

  6. All of you deer lovers are SO welcome to come to the Lowcountry and take them home with you. I detest deer. Came home from 3 weeks away and every single so.itary flower was gone.

Did PP tumblers on a discarded roll of adding machine tape from my friend's office. No precise fabric cutting needed, just angled lines to draw (zip zip zip) & some trimming after.

  8. What sweet wildlife photos. So much fun to see what happens when you aren't watching. Looks like lots of great progress on prepping tumblers. I think a lot of us are doing the same thing right now. Thanks for the inspiration.

I agree with Kansaswx. You're welcome to my deer. The damage they do to my garden is incredible. :-(

Happy anniversary at your lovely cabin with those stellar views of the Blue Ridge Mountains and the deer visitors. We have deer, too, so use orange hurricane fencing around the garden with rubber snakes (whole boxes full from a school supply site) woven in. Chicken wire is attached to the bottom of the hurricane fence and is bent outward at the ground so it's 2' away from the fence by the time it's pegged in place. No deer and no tunneling pests either! Our other flowers are those deer don't care for.

Be careful to check for ticks after your nature walks and 4 wheeling. Ticks are what I hate and I'm none too fond of chiggers either.

    I LOVE Leaders and Enders!

    Hugs!

They are such beautiful creatures. Sorry they make problems for humans..Just finished 63 blocks of Sisters Choice. On to tumblers, never thought I would ever do one but I want to play with Bonnie & the wonderful gang at Quiltville..
