Blood work came back that Buddy was also battling cancer. It's just too much. He's lived a good life. I will miss him every day.

Oh, Bonnie, I am SO sorry! I know there's nothing I can say to make you feel better.
ReplyDeleteOh Bonnie - I am so very sorry.
ReplyDeleteDear Bonnie ~ I am SO sorry for your loss! We never really know how sick animals are sometimes. Sadly, dogs and cats get cancer more than we ever realized. Our son lost his beautiful German Shepherd a few years ago. There had been no signs of illness until the very day he became distressed and it turned out to be cancer.
ReplyDeleteMy heart goes out to you and your family.
Hugs, Karen
I'm sorry to hear of your loss.
ReplyDeleteOh, my heart breaks for you. He gave it the very best he had, and he was loved.
ReplyDeleteBonnie, I am terribly sorry to hear that your Buddy had cancer and am keeping you and yours and Buddy in my thoughts. Sadly, pets such as dogs and cats get cancer too, more so than we had ever thought before! Our son lost his beautiful German Shepherd who was a "police officer" a few years ago.
ReplyDeleteTake care!
Hugs, Karen
I am so sorry to hear about the loss of Buddy. I know what it is like and it never is easy. I have have made a mini scrapbook of our 3 kitties that we have lost and love to look back and remember their quilt habits and see their pictures. Take care.
ReplyDeleteIf Buddy had been a quilter:
ReplyDeletehe would have had all the stash he ever needed;
his bobbin would never have run out midseam;
his points would always have matched; and
his borders would always have hung straight...
He was a lucky dog to be loved and cared for, and helped to cross over gently.
Sympathies, Bonnie
I'm so sorry! RIP Buddy. :o(

ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear Bonnie-been there recently myself. At least Buddy is no longer suffering. Big hugs.
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry to hear about the cancer. I just lost a stray (that I kept for 1 1/2 years and fell in love with) to cancer March 23. Funny thing, I just cried about losing her last night. I didn't realize cancer was so prevalant in animals. I was torn between putting her down and letting her live it out. Such a hard decision either way. My prayers are with you as I know how hard it is. I also now buy my other cats blue buffalo as they donate to cancer cure for animals. There's nothing to say because over time there's still tears. The memories are really all we have about anything and those stay with us forever. So, focus on those fun times with your memories.
ReplyDeleteOh Bonnie, I'm so sorry. We have a kitty battling cancer right now, too and will have to put her down soon...I hate to think of it! And this so soon after your grandfather. I'm sooo sorry. You're in my thoughts and prayers.
ReplyDeleteDear Bonnie,
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to read about Buddy. You are in my prayers.
There was an excellent article in Guideposts last month about pets going to heaven. Rest assured your Buddy is there!
Hugs,
Cathy

Having just lost our 19 yr. old cat last week, it is still so fresh in my mind and my heart. Only time can ease the emptiness, and then it flashes back when we least expect it! Buddy is not hurting anymore, he is healed and playing with my pet in a better place. ((HUGS)) coming your way!

ReplyDeleteRuth
So sorry. We never have them long enough.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry - my thoughts are with you and your family.
ReplyDeleteWe never have them long enough, do we? But that is the price we pay for their great companionship. Having just recently lost both our dogs, I can only say "I feel for you". Time will enable you to eventually talk about Buddy with a smile (and maybe a little tear). Glad to hear that you did the right thing by him.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry Bonnie, may you have many wonderful memories of his life.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry!
ReplyDeleteBonnie, I am so sorry for you and your family! We lost two cats to cancer. Both were part of our family for sixteen years. It's so hard to let them go. May Buddy be always in your heart.
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry, Bonnie. I have not experienced the loss of a pet, but have seen many others go through this. It's not easy, but I'm glad you have 10 years of memories of Buddy. dsb448@att.net

Oh Bonnie, I am so sorry to read of Buddy's passing. My heart aches for you. Dogs are such good friends, excellent listeners and constant companions. They love us unconditionally. The only fault dogs and cats have is that they don't live long enough. RIP Buddy! ;-(
ReplyDeleteOh Bonnie, you know there is a special heaven for dogs who have been such good and loyal friends to their people on earth. Our little Black Lab, Lucy died this weekend at age 15; she had been struggling with various "old dog" issues and finally, just walked herself down to the tree line at the edge of the soybean field; she laid down in the nice tall cool grass, and gently went to eternal sleep. When we found her, we thought for a moment she actually was just sleeping. Since she chose that spot, that is where we buried her. Yes, like you, we are sad but we also remember what a delightful dog she was and what a joy it was to have her in our family for all these years. Wishing you comfort and peace in your sorrow for Buddy.
ReplyDelete---
I'll be praying for you and your family. I've had to do the same before.
ReplyDeleteBonnie..
ReplyDeleteIt took me quite awhile to feel normal after I lost my dog Domino. It hurt more than I thought it would. Take the time to grieve, both your grandfather and your Buddy. (I ended up fostering 6 puppies as therapy.... not necessarily something I would recommend though!)
