What One Does When HOME ALONE!

20180114_161148
I was planning on being in Arizona right after California, but sometimes even the best plans fall through for a number of reasons.

We’ll do some make up dates in the future, and I was just there after Thanksgiving.

All is well with my brother Mark, so this shifted opportunity will work well.

And it allows me an even BIGGER break home before heading off to Florida at the end of the month – Oh JOY!!!

I didn’t think that I would end up home alone last evening though!  The men folk (i.e.: Jeff and Hubster) had already made plans for this holiday Monday since I was going to be gone.

Men folk, as you know, will do what men folk do when there is a new log splitter, a chain saw and 42 acres of woods to be dealt with.

And more power to them!

And PEDAL POWER to me!

I spent the evening stitching on my 1918 Singer 127 Sphinx.  100 years old and sews like a dream!

Super-California-Istic-Expialidocious Show & Share!

20180111_113931
Oh, my goodness, the amazing showing and sharing happening in Southern California!

Yes, tops and partial mysteries-in-progress are always a welcome sight at any gathering of quilters!

I love to hear the stories, especially when groups of friends are encouraging each other on to a goal of completion.

We all know that a lot of living goes on between each seam and that is what makes the completed quilt itself so special.  With each stitch we have climbed MOUNTAINS not only with quilt progress, but in the walk of our day to day life, accepting each challenge and growing through it.

Even a partial quilt top shows the many hours of effort one puts in.  THANK YOU for the best part of my visit – the show & share segments where I get to know just a little bit more about YOU.

Scrappy Bargello at Quilt in a Day!

IMG956075
Look who I’ve got in the sunny parking lot of Quilt in a Day in San Marcos, California!

I love this lady!  Eleanor Burns is my quilt hero!

The El Camino Quilt Guild is lucky to have the use of the wonderful classroom space at Quilt in a Day for their guild workshops, and I was happy to be back, both with the guild, AND at Quilt in a Day!

If you are anywhere near San Marcos, just outside of San Diego, you need to make a beeline and spend some time exploring everything!

A Presentation Day with Time to Play!

20180111_110039
It was a full house in Oceanside, California as the El Camino Quilt Guild took charge of their new meeting location – the perfect way to start a new year!

I always enjoy listening to the different committee reports and getting a feel for how active a guild is, and what kind of fun they are having.

I’m already jealous that there is a bus trip to the Road to California Quilt Show next Thursday, and I won’t be here to participate.  I would dearly love to go on a bus ride to a quilt show with these gals!

We had a great time and I enjoyed meeting everyone – the book signing table was mobbed and bustling – there will be more scrap quilts coming out of Oceanside, California!

After packing it all up and loading it back into Jill’s car, a handful of us gathered at Cheesecake Factory for lunch.

And then Jill and I had one thing on our minds – to hurry back home to her house and spend the afternoon behind the machines with as much power-sewing as we could squeeze in.
