Licorice Twist Gift-Away!

Happy Monday & PDF Pattern Release Day, Quiltvillians!

It seems for the past week all I've done is run from one appointment to the other - ticking off all the boxes and making sure everything was done on time.

BARELY on time.

And this morning is the same -

As this posts I'm off to Winston for the Retinal Specialist with Hubster Dave driving as I will be dilated and unable to drive myself home.  It's like a 3-4 hour procedure, so we'll see what comes of this.

I'm hitting publish on this post and getting everything out before I go.

You watched this one - from beginning to end!  Remember these clear bins I found at Walmart just perfect for sorting my strings black/neutral?  Love them!

Licorice Twist is completely paper pieced on printable foundations - which means I could easily use my mess of strings without having to rotary cut anything down to any particular width.  It's a match made in heaven -

String strips can be used for much more than just string quilts.

For my new purchasers who have never downloaded from my store before:

If this is your first time downloading digital patterns from my store to a computer click HERE.

If you intend to download to an iPhone/iPad click HERE.

PDF files download in the background where you can't see it happening - so it helps to know where files go on your device when you hit download.

Just because you can't see it download - doesn't mean it hasn't downloaded or is not there.  You just need to know where to look on your device to find the file.

This particularly applies to any iPhone/iPad user.

I suggest that EVERYONE (if possible) download to their computer first so they can save the PDF file where they know where to find it.  Once saved, you can transfer the file to your mobile device where you want to put it.

These blocks are so fun and addicting!

My biggest hint for success is to get as varied in your fabrics as possible, no matter which color you use.  Don't just use all black on black prints - they'll read as one big mass of solids from 6 feet away.

And yes, that goes for the neutrals too!

Some of my favorites are in these blocks!

(Those frogs are so cute!)

So much fun, down to the corner triangles which were great for bigger prints.

Printable pattern sheets are included for the full, half and quarter blocks.

Believe it or not, there's even Elvis in here!

I quilted Licorice Twist with a sandy tan colored thread in an edge-to-edge design called Golden Curls by Apricot Moon Designs.

I love how it curves and plays against the straight strips.

This quilt is not overly big - it measures 67'' X 67''.

And it would be super easy to either make fewer blocks for a smaller quilt, or make even more for a larger one.

What are you waiting for?  The strings are calling!

Introductory Special:  Licorice Twist is currently marked 25% off - no coupon needed!

Sale price good through 4/28/24.

I recommend using the printable 8 1/2'' X 11'' newsprint found in the Quilting All the Time category of the Quiltville Amazon Affiliate Store.

I also carry the Carol Doak foundation paper in the Quiltville Store.

And yes, there is a sale going on - all rulers. notions and tools (And Carol Doak Paper) are 15% off using code NOTIONS at check out.

Code must be placed in the shopping cart BEFORE you get into your payment method. Take a good look at this graphic so you know where the coupon code goes.

Click Redeem your coupon, and type in NOTIONS and hit enter *before* you click to Payment by Paypal or Credit card.

But let's get back to this quilt!

YES - there is a Gift-Away! I'll be drawing for 2 winners who will each receive a Licorice Twist PDF pattern from me, and a Splashes of Color Cotton Roll from  Cotton to Quilts.

These prints are so perfect for Licorice Twist!

And yes - they have awesome neutral rolls too!

We'll draw for our winners on Friday 4/24/24.

Ready Set SEW!

Quiltville Quote of the Day -

Our hearts and minds are like parachutes. They don't work unless they are open!

Scrappy Mountain Majesties pattern from the Free Patterns tab.

I love this one with the barn raising layout.  There are so many different arrangements to choose from.

Which is your favorite?

Have a marvelous Monday, everyone!

  4. Driving doesn't appeal to me after our long trip last Friday. Skipping Quilt Guild today. Ichy eyes aren't fun. Dogwoods are blooming!!

  5. Love this quilt! Wondering how I would do with stitching on that much black? Lol! My trips to the retinal specialist mean that I need a driver too. Eyes dilated means time to tip your head back and relax. Nothing you can do until you are back to normal.

  6. That's one of those blessings of having a retired hubster; he can take you without having to juggle schedules! :)
I hope everything goes well with the eye doctor!
I think we just barely made it through today... tomorrow is the reading portion of the STAAR test here in Texas. Stress all around! Have a good evening!

This is awesome! I really detest the tearing of the papers in paper piecing, but this makes me want to do it again
