Nov/Dec '22 Quiltmaker Gift-Away!

Good Thursday Morning, Quiltvillians!

Did the power go out yesterday?  Yes, it did.

Did we have it all under control?  Well, yes!

And it's always good to have a test run to be sure that things are working the way they should.

The weird thing was that we were told it would be from 8am - 5pm. but the power didn't actually go out kicking on the Generac until 12:30pm.

Then the question became - will they finish before retreaters start arriving?  YES!

So it was a good thing that I set up inside the Quilting Quarters at Quiltville Inn to work instead of trying to get a quilt machine quilted on the long arm next door when the power went out.
We'll get to where I wound up later in this post - for now - I want to get this out there to everyone.

I don't usually overlap gift-aways - it gets a bit confusing running two at once, but here we go!

The November/December Quiltmaker is on news stands and there is a beautiful photo of the Ruby Jubilee reveal on the front cover.

And I'll say this right up front because folks NOW want to know where they can get the pattern.

Ruby Jubilee has been running in ALL of the 2022 issues of Quiltmaker as a mystery.  Back issues are still available, and even easier in digital.  If you want to make this quilt, you'll need all 6 issues.

And these are some of the projects you'll also find besides the Ruby Jubilee reveal!

This is about the time my head starts actually wrapping around the idea of holiday sewing.  Isn't th is pretty?

And i love the blue in this one!

If you celebrate Chanukah, Candles Burn Bright has such a warm and comforting homey feel!

I love the simple nine patches and friendship stars in the center and can see making the quilt center without needing to make it into any kind of holiday quilt - but it is lovely with the candles too!

Gorgeous menorah, candles burn down each night!

I love this one too -

So gorgeous in its simplicity -

And don't forget my Addicted to Scraps column block!

I've named this little block "Woven Through" and I love the woven ribbon look that darker purple brings to the block center.

This is on my design wall to play with hopefully over the winter.  I'd love to see this block become a "REAL" quilt!

And of course the pièce de résistance :

The Ruby Jubilee Reveal!

I have enjoyed seeing quilts coming together on Instagram, and in my own Quiltville's Open Studio group on Facebook.  The variations of color and design are WONDERFUL!

I have one bonus copy to send to one lucky someone with a USA address.  Would you like this copy?

We will draw for our winner on Saturday, 11/5/22!

As to my own Purple Jubilee progress:

I set up yesterday at Quiltville Inn and started in on turning the leftover string pieced pages (some gifted!) into border lengths.

I want ZERO leftovers!

So I am even including the leftover half-square triangles, and sewing narrower margins of string piecing together to create the border width that I want.

These little sparks are going to be fun in here!

Even my piecing has piecing.  LOL!

All joined together and ready to be cut to length.

Yup! I think that will work!

If you are new here, and visiting to enter the Quiltmaker Gift-Away, please also sign up for this:

Bristol  has been out for a week and OH MY GOODNESS!

Gift-Away entries are at nearly 4,600! That's such a good indicator that I'm not the only one in love with star quilts, or plaids or plaid star quilts!

Thank you!

If you haven't gotten your entry in, please visit the Gift-Away Page and do so!  We will draw for our two winners THIS Saturday 10/29/22.

I will be drawing for 2 lucky winners that will each receive a Bristol PDF pattern from me and a Checks & Plaids Color Roll from  Cotton to Quilts!

Introductory Special: I have placed the PDF pattern for Bristol at 25% off in both the Quiltville Store and the Quiltville Etsy Pattern Shop.  No coupon needed!  Sale price good through 10/31/22.  Hurry now and save!

I've also placed the PDF pattern for Spider & The Fly  at 25% off in both the Quiltville Store and Quiltville Etsy Pattern Shop - no coupon needed!

The price is good through 10/31/22 and will revert back to full price on 11/1/22.

The sun is shining and I'm ready to dive into this day.

First up - hoping that the long arm will cooperate and I can finish the quilting on my wonky log cabin quilt.  I'd love to be feet up and binding by the weekend.

Also - getting the borders on my Purple Jubilee.  It's next up in the quilting queue!

And spending as much time as I can with the October Quiltvillians on retreat at Quiltville Inn!

This is also a reminder to please mark your calendar - the introductory post for this year's Quiltville Winter Mystery will go live on the blog on Monday, 10/31/22 - HALLOWEEN!

I'll be presenting the colors, yardage requirements, any specialty tools and background info so you can gather your goodies together.

Clues will be posted to the blog each Friday starting Black Friday, November 25th, 2022 and continue until some time in January.

I hope you will join us this year - it's a great quilt, a fantastic way to sew up your scrap stash and have some fun during the holidays while we work together to make this quilt.

Quiltville Quote of the Day

Life is not a race. Each day is different.
Don't gauge what you should accomplish today by what you accomplished yesterday or last week.
Just do what you can to the best of your ability. And don't forget to listen to the birds singing.
Applique quilt found in North Carolina.

Have a wonderful Thursday, everyone!

  1. Lovely quilt and saying this chilly morning. We have early voting in TN, so that's my first order of business, then back to finish making scrap blocks. My bucket is overflowing in every way. I can't take my eyes off Ruby Jubilee, every time I find more interesting blocks.
