From Design Walls to Drawing Boards!

Don't Irene's Scrap Crystals Blocks just look like Pumpkin Spice & Everything Nice?

I LOVE this color way!

I also love seasonal sewing - but the crazy thing is I can't see myself or make myself sew Christmas things in July - or July things in December.

I need to be sewing them DURING the right season, as part of the feeling and excitement of that season, not sewing them far ahead of time.

For me that usually means I am working on Christmas things starting in November, or Patriotic Stuff in May.  And then it becomes a UFO - and I may be sewing on that UFO during several of the "right" holiday times.

I guess I'm not like the big retail stores - I can't do Christmas in September (Or or sometimes AUGUST!)

And Irene is sewing her fall flavored Scrap Crystals quilt from my book MORE Adventures with Leaders & Enders as a repeat performance, destined to make progress on it during the season for which it was intended - FALL!

And across the table from her:

Sherry's remind me of pink strawberries!

Another long term UFO - finally being sashed!

All hand applique!  Wow!

Grassy Creek is getting a start - all in Grunge!  It's looking fantastic!

This delicious thing belongs to Risë and she is doing an awesome job with the paper piecing!

Michelle and Jen Kingwell up on the wall!

The one thing we kept talking about with these quilts of many pieces - DO NOT COUNT THE PIECES!  Sometimes the piece count can be daunting.

Blocks of many pieces usually involve many SHORT seams so they don't count as much. LOL!

Just keep your eye on the goal, keep sewing, and count the pieces when you are done.

Yesterday brought this!

All THREE to the vet at once.

Ivy looks disguised.  LOL!

Ivy needed her second round of shots (out of 4 - she has two more Friday appointments to go) and the Dogs came along for nail trimming because they hate it so bad and we can't get it done.

Luckily The Hubster came along to hold down the fort in the car with the dogs while I took Ivy in, and watched Ivy after bringing her back to the car and taking the dogs in.

What a zoo!

I came back to the QPO to find Lola had done THIS!

At least it made for finding more blue scraps a bit easier - she fluffed it all for me.

Baseballs?  YES!

Because they are fun.

And now there are 20 of these and I'll move on to some red blocks next.

I still have no clue what I'm doing, but 20 of each sounds like enough of a mix to get me started on figuring out just what that's going to be.

And that bin of shirt strings is slowly going down.

But then once I've pulled out all of the "best" pieces and we are down to the dregs I'll have to find a string project to sew the rest up with, right?

Did you see what went up yesterday?

I've placed the PDF pattern for Spider & The Fly  at 25% off in both the Quiltville Store and Quiltville Etsy Pattern Shop - no coupon needed!

The price is good through 10/31/22 and will revert back to full price on 11/1/22.

Pull out those Halloween themed fabrics and more orange/gray and black and get sewing!

This two block quilt uses easy piecing techniques.  I used the Essential Triangle Tool for the half-square triangle and hourglass units in the quilt, but traditional rotary cutting methods are also given for your convenience and method choice.

And if you think this quilt only works with Halloween fabrics, think again!

This is Dianna's in pink & black!  I love it!  Well done!

Now what colors can YOU see this quilt made with?

Quiltville Quote of the Day -

Vintage 25 patch quilt in cotton and wool found in North Carolina.

Now isn't this the truth?!
Welcome to the weekend friends!

  2. I also am one who has a hard time quilting on out of season projects. I get so frustrated with myself as I have some nice panels to do for Halloween and just can't get myself to work on them until its too late for the current year. Oh well maybe another year. Happy Stitching everyone.

  3. Loved all the quilty photos. I am working on a free appliqué
pattern from https://theredbootquiltcompany.com/ I am tracing and applying the shapes now so when Summer arrives here in Australia, I can sit in the a/con & stitch them in place. The lightbox & iron a=e definitely not tools of choice in Summer. For anyone interested in appliqué patterns, go check out Toni Alexander's site.

  8. I recently finished the top of my crooked courthouse steps and was so impressed with being able to put a lid (literally) on my string container, I was researching wonky log cabins! Be gone, strings (you will be missed...but...go now...)
