Bristol Gift-Away!

Happy Monday, Quiltvillians!

Aren't you glad you live in a world where there are Octobers? We have had an absolutely glorious weekend weather wise, and last night's gentle rain was just what I needed for the best night's sleep ever.

I woke up raring to go to get Bristol ready to go!

I had the best time making this quilt - oh the shirt scraps that went into it!

My bins of recycled shirt parts are definitely feeling a bit lighter - but there are still more plaid quilts to come as quilting with plaids and strips and small prints just feels like AUTUMN doesn't it?

I love how how cozy a quilt feels when we throw in some plaids!

Just look at these beauties!

All of the colors came from shirts and other clothing, but of course neutrals are my jam, and I pulled many of those from the neutral strip stash as well as using recycled shirts - that makes the whole game more interesting!

Check out these fabrics to see what makes it fun for me:

Alligators?  Of course!

Who says you can't put plaids with moderns?

Yes, please!  More of this!

While I used my Essential Triangle Tool for all of the triangle units in Bristol, I have included optional methods and traditional rotary cutting sizes so you can choose to make any of the units your own way.

Unfinished and finished sizes are given for each unit along the way so you can double check that your piecing is going where it needs to go.

Detailed pressing instructions are also given so you can nest seams with success!

Of course the quilting brings it to life!

I quilted Bristol with an edge to edge design called Gossamer and I love the texture!

I love the secondary design that comes together when sashing and cornerstones meet block corners!

Remember my choosing this OLD red diagonal plaid as my binding?  It was the perfect finish and a great way to use up this piece I've had in my stash for more than 30 years.

I don't think there is anything left now!

Photos with a bit of morning light shining through.

Are you ready to dig in and start cutting out yet?

Last evening's view at my side yard.

I can see mountain ridges appearing -

But isn't it wonderful?

I hope you have had a wonderful weekend and are embracing the changes of the seasons wherever you are.

It's been a beautiful leaf-peeper season - but I'm afraid all of the pretty colored leaves will be on the ground by the end of the week.  We've got some more rain and cold snaps coming.

  4. I LOVE the way the outer border looks on this quilt. Maybe it's a trick of the photography, but it looks like the edge is scalloped even though it isn't! What a great pattern.

  7. Bristol is wonderful!

I agree - I LOVE quilting with recycled shirts. Always seem to find more color shirts than light neutral. Mixing color shirts with light prints is a great solution, and it turned out SO fun! Gives a bit of a different feel than all shirts, a nice twist.

    Lovely finish, Bonnie!

  11. I'm not usually a fan of quilts that use all 1/2 square triangles, but this one is gorgeous! I will be putting it on my long long list! :) WE are getting our first taste of the cooler weather. Have a great day!

  13. What a delightful quilt! I would love to sit on my deck drinking coffee and wrapped up in this quilt as the leaves blow gently to the ground. It looks like one of the quilts on my bucket list will be pushed further down the list to make room for this beauty! Thank you.
