The drive this afternoon up to the cabin was a windy one!
The kind of late winter wind that grabs the car while driving and seems to push you sideways.
The kind of cold and howling winter wind forcing temperatures DOWN, while you simultaneously turn UP the volume on the car stereo because you can’t hear your favorite song playing.
Take THIS, wind! You aren’t going to spoil my mood! And snow if you must, winter sky –nothing can change my giddiness as I head to the Blue Ridge Mountains for a few days of R&R. Or is that Q & R ((Quilt & Retreat?!))
It actually was spitting flakes as I was unloading the groceries from the van. It doesn’t matter –no matter how much old man winter tries, he can’t hold off spring for that much longer here. It’s right around the corner and I can feel it. Hence, my absolute happiness that Winter 2016 will soon be a thing of the past.
Okay, so it’s 36 degrees as I type this, temps are still falling, and maybe it’s just yet another persistent hot flash that is keeping me warm. LOL!
Whatever it is, it’s time to do this Quilty Box drawing thing! 1985 entries! Oooooh, I know someone is going to he extra happy with this!

The windy cloudy view off the front porch.
It’s not a day to want to be outside, but even the view of the clouded over Blue Ridge Parkway in the distance makes me smile at the wonder of nature.

I’m cherishing THIS view before spring does arrive along with all of the leaves that will block this ridge of mountains from view. After the leaves are out we won’t see it until Fall has come and gone.
I’ve got projects to keep me busy through a long weekend. We’ve got Sadie up here for long walks, weather permitting.
Tonight’s plan!
I shared this photo the other day. The Mother Ship and the completed upper left triangle are here with me and I think I’ll snuggle into a comfy chair ((after putting on jammies!)) And start stitching that one corner on. I don’t have any bindings to do, so this will be perfect hand work for tonight.
As for tomorrow? We’ll deal with tomorrow – tomorrow! ((Putting on my best Scarlett O’Hara drawl))

The star points looks like sweet little Sadie's face. This is a beautiful quilt. Enjoy your evening. It is starting to snow in Arden and sticking but I do not think we will get much, but it is cold and windy. Betty

ReplyDeleteour little quilting group will meet this morning. I have red squares to cut for Allietare, Virginia Bound binding to hand stitch and by then The Surprise (for my niece) should return from the long-armer, ready for hand quilting finish and embellishments/binding/label. And trying to decide what to do after that... so many choices and a plethora of scraps, crumbs, strips and chunks to be organized!
