iPhone-o-Gram! The Waiting Room Edition!

While on the long drive home, my engine light came on letting me know it was time to get Shamu in for routine oil change and maintenance.

I can't believe I've had this van for a year now---and wonder of wonders, just when I was thinking that I needed to call the dealership to schedule my appointment---the phone rings through the bluetooth---

"This is Tom at Modern Toyota. I'm calling to wish your Sienna a happy birthday."

Lol!! I talked to him a bit---told him how I love this van--and then asked him to transfer me over to the service department.

How convenient is this?? What were the chances he would call me right after the engine light came on?

This adds a whole new dimension to the phrase "Don't call us, We'll call you!"

So here I sit while Shamu gets the once over so we will be ready to head to the mountains this evening.

And because it was already in the car----I'm stitching on a binding making good use of found time---and keeping myself from freezing in here because the A/C is set on SNOW!

  1. Why do they always set the A/C so low? I was at the doctors and the staff was all wearing heavy sweaters when it was over 100 outside. I was freezing. Good thing you have the quilt to work on. I only had hexies.

  2. Your AC comment reminds me of the '74 AMC Hornet I had as my first car. The air-conditioning had a setting for "Desert Only", I never used it though, I think I was a little nervous that driving in a temperate area and using the special setting would break it. I certainly would use it all the time now! LOL

  3. The way you manage to use every minute of found time is positively inspiring!

My Toyota called At 1 year too. However, my Sienna will be 2 in October, and only at 7800 miles. :0 of course, I'm not driving around, enjoying the beauty of this country, like you!

  6. Wow! You don't find service like that very often these days!!! I ALWAYS carry a sweater in the car, because I can't go in a store or restaurant without freezing my *&^%$ off!!!

    Happy Birthday Shamu :*)

I would so love A/C on snow... Mine is broke and we are expecting temps in the 100's this weekend... Perfect time to go teach a class at the LQS.

  8. I knew you would love your Sienna. My kids are grown and gone and DH thought I would want to downsize when we became empty nesters, but I told him my Sienna is my "truck." I think he understood me then. I can haul whatever I want, whether it be people or furniture, and it is fun to drive and comfortable seating. And my Toyota dealership is too air conditioned as well. : )

  9. So what ya workin on gal? Looks like it might be the cute block from QM Vol 5... So many interesting conversations come up when a sewing project passes the time in a waiting room. Seems to make everyone comfortable with the sewer when otherwise not a word would be shared. Sandi

  11. I had to Google Sienna. What a great looking car. Perfect for the travelling you do and carrying all those lovely quilts and supplies. I had an unexpected stop last night for a couple of hours and Murphy's Law meant I had no hand projects with me. I usually keep a bit of red work or knitting with me. It was fixed with a quick visit to a chain store where I could but a pair of needles and some yarn....A new scarf in the making!

  12. I just stumbled on this post and laughed about your AC comment. We had a car like that once, an El Camino, which was a kind of truck/car hybrid. The front part looked like an Impala cut in half and the cab had about as much volume as half of the Impala's interior. However, it had the AC capacity of a full sedan so when you cranked it up the car's interior was like a meat locker. That was great for me, eternally-too-hot-me, but my husband would freeze to death. Thank goodness for zoned climate control like in my new Honda!
