We are laughing and reminiscing over his very very avocado green floor in our workroom!
Do you recall this linoleum??
Did you have green appliances to match?
Our first apartment had this in the kitchen with a green fridge and stove. The livingroom carpet was green sculptured and looked like puzzle pieces.
Oh the memories!!!

When we rented our first apartment we had to choose between avocado green and harvest gold. We chose the gold appliances and carpet. Our first house had avocado green appliances. I'm glad those colors went out of style.
ReplyDeleteWe had to buy our own refrigerator for our first apartment in 1976. We choose harvest gold. A year later we bought our house and did over the kitchen. We went with gold counter tops and a gold brick linoleum, to match the frig. I grew to hate that color. In 2000 we replaced the floor with a neutral color and we're on our 3rd frig. We only just replaced the counters a few years ago.
ReplyDeleteI replaced my avocado green dryer only 4 years ago. I have a clothesline to use most of the time so the dryer lasted forever. It was still working when I gave it away. It was hard to get rid of cause no one wanted the color.
ReplyDeleteI remember this color very well!!
ReplyDeleteYou had Avocado green. We had Harvest Gold!!! Wow what memories.
ReplyDeleteHow about a pink kitchen counter top and shower tile. House built in 1964.

Before we got married, I was living in an apartment I just loved......and the kitchen was turquoise. Yep, fridge, stove, countertops. Bathroom fixtures were also turquoise.
ReplyDeleteAfter our wedding, we bought a house with lime green and yellow everything.
ah, color......
I had the gold appliances and floor. Memories is right.

Some might consider them nightmares!! When I see those greens and golds now, I wonder how we stood it.
ReplyDeleteWe didn't have that green but we had the yellow! UGH... harvest gold! UGh! I still don't like yellows!
ReplyDeleteIt is what I grew up with and loved it!
ReplyDeleteGlad that none of you visit my house. I still use my green stove every day and it is actually one of my favorite things. Of course, that may be due to the fact that I found out it is not a standard size and can't be replaced until I am ready to redo my cabinets. May use it another 35 years!
ReplyDeleteWe married is 1975 and bought stove, refrigerator, washer and drier in avocado green. I loved it then, now I scratch my head and say "what was I thinking?" And I got so made at DH's grandma when she told me that white would be a better choice!

"Harvest Gold" for me since my Mother had the avocado green and I hated it. Sure hope those colors don't come back like the "Flower Power" prints of the 60's have - UGH!! Didn't like them back then - still don't - ;))
ReplyDeleteThis lovely flooring matched the avocado green shag in the living and dining areas- WHO was stupid enough to put shag in a dining area? Not sorry to say it is gone! Joy in AK
ReplyDeleteWhen we bought our current house it had an avocado green oven door and hunter green counter tops with white cabinets. I told my hubby I could live with one of the greens, but not both. He painted the oven door white! I still have the avocado bathroom though. :(
ReplyDeleteOur kitchen was adorned with Harvest Gold: refigerator, stove top, sink and oven. But my floor had white and gold linoleum. Very Special
ReplyDeleteNow I'm going to make myself nuts trying to remember who had that floor and where it was! Not the kitchen -- that was rectangles...might've been in one of the bathrooms in the house I grew up in.... I've stopped asking Mom and Grandma because they just think I'm nuts. But if it WAS the bathroom, odds are that there might be some on the floors of the dollhouse I've got out in the sewing room. I'll have to check when the sun comes up.
ReplyDeleteI see a new quilt pattern!
ReplyDeleteTwo of my kids bought houses - One was the lemon-orange-lime look and the other was Spanish red and avocado. So dated, but interesting to see the different looks that were popular.
ReplyDeleteSo funny! When we first got married we lived in a rented mobile home with turquoise appliances and sink! After a couple of moves, we bought our avocado green stove in 1974! That thing lasted a really long time. I think we just left it in a house when we moved out!
ReplyDeleteThat was my kitchen when we moved in here. Avocado green appliances and sparkly countertops!
ReplyDeleteMy parentsa had that floor in red with olive green builders cabinets and autumn gold appliances.
ReplyDeleteYa' don't get quality that lasts that long anymore. I think I'd trade the green for that long lasting Armstrong shine! Lane
ReplyDeletemy mom loved green! My brother used to say he didn't know whether he should sweep the floors or mow them!
