Phone cameras have certainly improved over the 15 years since this photo was taken.
We were living in Wallburg, NC. Jason was living in Columbia SC and working at Olive Garden.
I was on my way down to Charleston and had stopped at his work for a rest break, a beverage, a quick visit.
These are the kinds of things I'm finding as I scroll all the way down my Facebook memories. What a blessing it is to have those there, changing daily, always something to rediscover and remember.
Son Jeff was also with me on this trip - I think this is likely the last photos I have of them both with shorter hair and zero beards.
Family. Sons. Brothers.
And day by day we are holding it together as we get closer to Jason's surgery date.

Backing for my Brookgreen quilt!
I purchased this on my first visit to Paris. It's been in the stash for something like 13 years. It's a bit heavier than quilting cotton weight, but it is 100% cotton. Not quite home-dec weight, but somewhere in between.
At any rate it needed to leave the garage stash and find a place to thrive, so here it is on the reverse side of Brookgreen.

And yes, I know string quilts are heavy - there is often as much fabric in the seam allowances as is showing on the front - but wow. This is fabulous!

ReplyDeleteMy plan for today is to get my flu and Covid shots, so I won't get sick, so I will be able to get quilting once we arrive in Arizona in two weeks. The weather here has turned cold and we had SNOW on Sunday. Time to pack up for warner climes!

I'm currently doing FMQ on my domestic, a Full size with blocks that aren't too piece-heavy, and even it weighs a ton! But I always think how warm this makes them. This one is for my friend who will soon be starting Chemo. I wanted it to be large and warm as he's 6'4"!
My plan for today is two doll quilts for my Linus group to give to Toys for Tots. Ellen T.

ReplyDeleteI have that binding fabric in my stash if you need some more! I bought it from Me & Moms quilt shop in Frisco, TX. They closed not long after my 40th birthday, it is deep stash fabric.
