Fantastically Fun!

This is the fabulous group I spent the weekend with!

Emily's stitchers came from not-too-far-off Huntersville, NC after having their retreat cancelled last year due to Hurricane Helene raging through our area leaving us without power for 9 days - right when they were supposed to be here.

I'm so happy their retreat time finally arrived!

And these ladies came with an agenda - some sewing past 3am (Which explains why I didn't see them when I arrived at 10am to a very quiet house! LOL!)

There was an entire day where all except one went shop hopping, being gone all day and coming back with burgeoning bags of purchases after I had already left to go home to fix dinner.

They filled every minute making up for what was postponed last year - and we had a great time!

Quilt top finishes and quilts brought to warm retreat beds.

Old Town received its borders next to another beautiful quilt.

I don't remember who designed the pixelated bouquet (put it in the comments, please!) but the autumn pumpkin quilt top was made this week on retreat. Great way to use a layer cake collection!

Lovely blooming nine-patch along with two sweet projects made on retreat - a churn dash table runner and a "family tree" quilt featuring a bird panel.

Many other projects were started and still on design walls, not together enough to be putting over the rail - but we know the hard work that was going into them.  I can't wait to see those finishes next year.

We made it!  And No Hurricanes!

This photo was snapped by a retreater of Tula yawning at the back door.  What a crack up.  LOL!

Our mornings have turned foggy - it gives an ethereal "Brigadoon" feeling to the mountains.

The leaves on my lilac bushes are changing from bright (but kind of tired) green to rusty brown.

Tree tops are turning yellow gold above Dave's man shed.

I spent most of yesterday at my desk doing contract work and some other editing that needs to happen in the next little while.

I've got today and tomorrow to finish up as much desk work as I can before the Muddy Creek Misfits arrive tomorrow afternoon.

My best moment of yesterday?  Jeff finished mowing the lawn and doing some other things on his to-do list and I stole him off to Galax where we ran a couple of errands and went to the Chinese Buffet for lunch.  Sometimes it's just nice to have the company of my grown man-son while doing normal things like stocking up on hand soap and make up remover wipes for the retreat.

I appreciate his hard work so much.  Check out what I arrived to on Saturday:

I couldn't do this without the help of my family. They constantly show their love by doing things like this.

A friend told me once that "roses" come in all shapes and forms.  Not just as flowers.

Your family might not be bringing you actual flowers all the time, but look for the little things. The little things they do for you without being asked or expected - those are flowers.

I am presented with flowers by these men in my life every day - even if they don't look like flowers.

Quiltville Quote of the Day -

Happy Tuesday, everyone!

Let the good songs roll!

I think the one quilt is a blooming 9 patch instead of a disappearing 9 patch. It's very nicely done BTW. It's something that's on my list to do. These ladies did a fantastic job on all their quilts.

  3. Yes to the "roses" in our lives!! I have a couple in mine and am so grateful to them as I grow older. A little thought on the "disappearing nine patch", I think that is called Blooming nine patch but I could be wrong. All of the quilts are beautiful!!!

The pixelated bouquet is from Tilda of Tilda’s World. She has a small collection of pixelated flower patterns, and they’re all free patterns. —Sue

The photo of Tula is hilarious! Good Halloween photo. She's showing off her empty mouth all the way to her tummy. My cat does that very loudly like "chop, chop! It's been an hour and 43 minutes since I last ate!" LOL Kathy
