Brown Bird Charm Pack Challenge!

Yesterday morning I walked into the Quilting Quarters to find The Brown Bird Bee gals already hard at work with a planned Charm Pack Challenge!

Design walls were filling up with pieces and parts and the machines were humming on both sides of the room.

Ooooooh!  Pretty things to look at on a bright and shiny morning?  Show me what's up!

Big pieces in a quick Carpenter's Star topper!

Download free PDF pattern sheet HERE.

The challenge takes one charm pack of your choice and 3/4 yard of backing fabric.  Borders are also up to you!

The challenge for the Brown Bird Bee gals was to finish the top centers in ONE DAY.

And they were moving quickly along!

Of course the hardest part with just one charm pack from one fabric line is trying to keep the same fabric print from being too close to itself - even if it's in a different color.

Isn't it crazy how much seam allowances take up when you start sewing units into rows?

I loved the variety in styles!

This red and white one is going to be beautiful for the upcoming holiday season.

Double checking to make sure nothing is turned the wrong way -

This one with a soft pink background - lovely!

(Also lovely - tiny log cabins for another project -)

Rows in progress.

Another fun and printy background - love it!

Charming and sweet!

Quilters hard at work!

I'm sure we'll have some fun with over-the-porch-rail photos on Monday. What a satisfying and relatively quick quilt finish for everyone, and even more fun when all are making them along with you! Great group project!

Not to mention that lunch was super yummy!

Thanks for the invite, ladies!

Just an upshot of a beautiful blue sky as I was heading home to fix dinner - leaves are mostly gone now.

I wish I could say the same about the walnuts that keep dropping onto the back porch roof with a BANG!

And just because I keep forgetting to post this here - this was the infamous Zoey response when I was trying to call her in so I could get to work...once her nose is engaged, her ears turn off.

Last evening -binding away.

Tonight there will likely be no hand stitching time - it's my friend's 70th birthday and we'll have a van full of 7 of us off to Boone to the Japanese Steak House for her birthday dinner.

The sleeve can wait for another night or so.

Waiting in the big laundry basket I keep by my comfy chair - it holds all project parts for handwork.

And guys!  I'm over the moon excited with the response to the Lahinch Pattern release and Gift-Away!

Absolutely love the Zoe video. I think that's me while I'm quilting LOL! My eyes are focused on my sewing and ears are closed to everything else.

  2. So surprising your leaves are almost all off, down so far south. Here in SW Michigan, they're still mostly on and beautiful colors
