One Thing At A Time!

I did cut out yesterday.

Not enough to finish the blocks for the quilt, but I cut enough to get going.  To sew for a while.

And that's enough.

It was just the amount I needed to feel like I accomplished something - anything.

Two days left before I fly to be with Jason - have I packed yet?  Nope!

But I have begun to make a pile next to the suitcase on the guestroom bed of things that need to go with me.

One more thing is off my chest and letting me breathe a bit better -

I sent the long arm tablet and docking station off to be looked at.

I honestly don't think that is where the problem is, but it's a start. It's a way of ruling out that the problem lies elsewhere.

When turning on the power supply even without the tablet, the quilting machine motors don't go into ready mode.  They are supposed to make a little "whoooop!" sound like "Hey! I'm ready!" even before turning on the tablet.  They aren't doing that.  But we will see what happens when they examine my tablet. I think the problem may lie with the sliver box that is mounted under the table side.

At any rate - I felt a weight lift when I dropped that off at FedEx yesterday. It's a start.

Meanwhile, next door at Quiltville Inn the November Quiltvillians are in high gear after arriving Wednesday afternoon!  Michelle has a beautiful Quilt of Valor under way -

Barbara brought out this 1890's triangle top out for show & share - her $10.00 auction find!

Some fabrics may even be 1870's to 1880s.  My knowledge of exact prints and styles is limited -

At any rate, some fabrics are too fragile to get it quilted, so she is simply going to fold, display and love.

We took a good look at the hand stitches on the back and imagined the life of the quilter who put this together.  Were these her dress scraps? Skirts? Aprons? Blouses?

There are some mourning prints in there so I can imagine that our maker went through life difficulties just as we are experiencing in our own time lines.

There is some very intense paper piecing happening here.

Wowza! This is going to be so cool!

Don't forget to take time out for some quilter's yoga - bend and stretch and reach and arrange and pick up and go sew!  This is going to be a lovely blooming nine patch!

And when the hum of machines and yammer of voices gets to be too much to handle, take some hand work off to the Hen Den for some quiet hand stitching.

I really did try to get some hexie stitching in last night, but by the time I had video chatted first with my dad, and then on to video chatting with Jason and Dave - All while this circus entertainment was going on - I gave up and crawled into bed to read for a while.

I mean - seriously - who can pay attention to sewing when this is going on?

Hubster Dave and Son Jason drove out to Mt St Helen's yesterday. 

They had a wonderful drive and a beautiful view of the crater side of the mountain.

I'll get to hug them both on Sunday!

I'm so grateful that Jason is doing so well - his only symptoms are some tingling in his fingers, and some hearing loss in his right ear.  Both may improve over time.

We'll go get his stitches out on Tuesday and perhaps the doctor will let us know about the tumor pathology at that time.  Right now we are holding the thought that no news is good news.
