October Quiltvillians In The House!

The October Quiltvillians are in the house!

And I think I can officially say that the 2025 porch season has come to a windy and chilly close.

So windy that branches have come down into the yard - and all of the porch decor has been packed away until next year.

Let's just say that it is no fun to chase a bunch of paper napkins around the yard, nor to catch the salt and pepper shakers that have rolled off of the tables.

And while I am sad that summer is over - toasty mornings of coffee in the hen den with the fire on also brings happiness.

I walked into this yesterday morning not understanding what it was.  The quilters had caught yesterday's Lupine & Laughter Mystery Intro post and had built their own "Thank You Card" design wall.

And before I knew it most had loaded up into cars to head to the quilt shop for some mystery stash enhancement.  LOL! Only two quilters were left behind!

Quilters gotta do what quilters gotta do!

I am drooling over this beauty!

Cute quilt tops are coming together!

This one is called Square Up!

Speaking of squares - we've got this cutie coming together!

And something fun is happening here:

How cute!

This is About Face by Villa Rose.

It's still pumpkin season!

Pumpkin Trails in progress!

Meanwhile in the QPO - this is happening!  I'm getting my Four Patch Fun top together!

Webbing all the way!

Webbing is the term I give to continuously chain piecing all of the blocks in order so the rows are complete, and the rows are held together with the chaining threads between the rows.  The chaining threads are the "webbing" that holds everything together.

Webbed and ready for joining of rows!

And I was about this far along when I saw a familiar motor home pulling a race car turn in to the curved drive in front of the inn....my neighbor Barbara's son Roger.

So this is what I came home to!

We didn't REALLY need that gate, did we?

This is the tree that broke in the middle.

No lightning strike - not even a very strong wind. But neighbor Barbara was sitting on her front porch when she saw and heard the tree crack and fall and smash our gate.

Last evening I had dinner plans with a neighbor down the road so I walked back down the drive to my car that was parked at Barbara's.

I returned 2 hours later planning to hike back up to the top as I didn't think that anything could be cleared until this morning - but Barbara's other son Ricky had jumped right in with his chain saw while I was gone and cleared a path allowing me to get the car up the drive.

I have wonderful awesome neighbors!  I am so grateful!

May we all hold a moment of silence for the gate that has served us well over the past 8 years....

About the Sold Out Half-Rectangle Tool for the upcoming Lupine & Laughter Mystery -

I have more on order.  I expect them to be in next week.

I leave a week from tomorrow for Vancouver.  If the rulers are in before I leave I will be able to ship them out.  If I run out of time I will ship them when I return, still ahead of mystery time - that part where we need them isn't until somewhere around the middle of your mystery.

Once this new batch has shipped from the warehouse I'll put them in the store and let you know.

But also know that there are many ways to make these units and as stated in the Intro Post I will be supplying Paper Piecing templates so there are other ways to get this job done.

Son Jeff is on his way over to help me get the ruler orders out that we can get out this weekend.  The Post Office will hate us by Monday. HA!

From my Facebook memories 15 years ago - Jason and me.

He is doing so well that he and Dave took a little field trip to walk around Bass Pro shop yesterday.  Walking is his best exercise post brain surgery - it helps connect all of the neurons and form new pathways in the brain.  Simple walking.

And I think just being OUT is good for his mental health right now.

And I get to hug him one week from tomorrow.  I can't wait.

So here we are at the weekend - what do you have planned?

And of course - this happens MONDAY:
