Now THIS is what we call a Quilter Cluster!
How fun it was to grab a group photo full of quilts and quilters, capturing all of the exuberance, laughter and love the Brown Bird Bee gals have for one another.
It shows in their interactions - that connection. The conversations, the helping with projects, the grabbing of a seam ripper to help someone undo an "oops."
If only the rest of the world could behave toward each other the way these groups of women, all from different backgrounds and situations do.
The world would be a better place if we were all quilters.
Everyone agreed that their first stay at Quiltville Inn was too short.
They are already on the books for next year staying the full week. Plans are being made for group projects and who is repeat-cooking what because the food was so good.
And though it rained on Friday, and was a bit blustery on Saturday, we still were able to get into the late afternoon sunlight on the side porch for their inaugural over-the-porch-rail photo op.
The wind was just a bit wafty!
We did our best to catch photos when the wind was behaving - anything floating in the breeze is an "action shot!"
From left to right - Yellow Brick Road made out of cute kid prints, a Quilt Retreat panel (each person received one and there are blocks on it to be signed by others) Plaidish, Moth in the Window from the Addicted to Scraps book, and another cute and quick panel turned quilt top.
Rhododendron Trail, Virginia Bound from String Fling, Grassy Creekwith alternate sashing, and Tumelo Trail from Scraps & Shirttails II.
Wonderful strippy quilt - I don't know the origin of this one, if you know the name/designer please leave it in the comments below.
And a fabulous Chilhowie top finish ready for quilting!
This gets me all a-flutter as so many of you have been working so hard to finish up last year's Quiltville Winter Mystery so you can dive right in to this year's.
Yes, the introductory post and colors are coming out on HALLWEEN! So soon!
A gorgeous Judy Niemeyer design - just waiting for borders, followed by an Edyta Sitar mystery top finish. Both of these tops were big accomplishments and they are gorgeous!
A better view of this finish away from the sun.
This Virginia Bound is well under way -
Hopefully she'll have it ready to hang over the porch rail this time next year.
These beautiful Brown Birds brought so much joy!
Thanks so much for including me in your group and making me feel a part of everything! It was wonderful to have you here, and I can't wait to see you back next October.
While laundry ran -
This is where my focus has been.
Part 2 of Star of Hope with these alternate blocks will post next Monday 10/30/23.
This year's Quiltville Winter Mystery introduction will post the next day. Tuesday 10/31/23.
I'm going to have to take a bit of a break from making more blocks this week to get some other things taken care of.
Silk Path is releasing on Friday 10/27/23!
Graphics are *mostly* done. I need to write the text, make the PDFs, get it uploaded to both stores and have it ready.
Yes - there will be a Gift-Away! Yes, there will be yummy brown color rolls included in that gift-away.
And the sooner I get all of this done the sooner I can be back to making more of my blue star blocks.
What do you have planned for today?
Quiltville Quote of the Day -
It's not something you keep for yourself, the only way to have it is to give it!
It's a brand new week - what will you do with it?
Vintage quilt found in North Carolina.
I wish I got done half of what you do. I always visit your blog and admire the quilts over the railings!! Someday when south I want to at least drive by the Inn! Happy sewing today.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much to you Bonnie and all your Retreaters for sharing your quilts in progress. So inspiring to see so many different patterns and color combinations. I need more sewing time!
ReplyDeleteoh my YES YES YES... the world would be a more loving place if we were all quilters... or maybe that begs the question??? maybe those who become quilters are of the loving sort??? we all seem to be 'givers' that's for sure... I'm praying for a miracle to restore my sight just enough to be able to thread my sewing machine and te to these many many projects i've started and loved and moved on to ther loves... fickle me, somewhere in the learning to quilt process "finishing" before starting a new one lesson was missed! LOL, i cannothelp myself but follow and drool and wish all y'all's adventures alonside dear bonnie and the retreaters... thank you Bonnie Hunter for your contribution to my life! Cats in Carlsbad CA
ReplyDeleteIt looks like the Edyta quilt has a block turned- the bottom darker block in the photo. Hopefully not too late to change before a finished quilt.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to Silk Path!! There is just something about it that speaks to me!! Also for block two of Stars of Hope. Mine will become a hanging for my front door!
ReplyDeleteI agree 100% about the world being a better place if more of us were quilters. Or at least learned to get along with each other so we wouldn't have to fake it 'till you make it... sheesh. I love the rail shots as always... and looking forward to the SIlk Path coming out!! Happy Monday... back to the grind after a much needed restful weekend! I have some pineapple blocks cut so if I get the chance to sew this week in the evenings I can!
ReplyDeleteThe strippy quilt is from a Scavenger Hunt sew along with blocks from Sheryl Johnson’s Returning to Temecula.
