I took this photo Saturday morning as the sun was shining through the trees...slower to raise itself into the sky at this point.
I'm still looking at the sky through a filter of green - but I know in just a few weeks that those leaves will be down and I'll once again have a long-range view of the mountains toward the east.
Soon. And I know it will happen all to quickly. The last two mornings our temps have dipped into the 30s -
Yesterday morning above the Hubster's shed - some rusty oranges!
Meanwhile at the inn -
This is also the time of year that the Tree Urchins (Aka chestnuts) begin to fall to the drive from the 2 giant and ancient chestnut trees in the side yard.
Spiney, pokey, heinous things!
We rake them up and load the wheelbarrow using a pitchfork. And then over the fence they go to be eaten by the deer.
The deer stomp on the hulls to release the nut from inside - they love them. They can have them.
Nasty horrid Tree Urchins!
Meanwhile, inside the inn:
From blocks to assembly -
Rows ready to assemble -
Tada!!
Edges will be trimmed and borders added after she gets back home - what a huge accomplishment!
We all cheered when this one was finished. Beautiful!
Three blocks standing tall.
It's a holiday free for all!
Another Tada! A big one!
This quilt is called All Wrapped Up
Cotton to Quilts has a few kits left if you are interested. The pattern is available there too.
Halloween is still happening in Pam's corner!
Spider & The Fly continues to grow - and I can't wait to see her blocks laid out together. Her Halloween neutrals are so super cute.
There is some Halloween Cat fun going on in two corners of the room as well!
Truly adorable!
This pattern is called Just Kitten Around. Too cute!
And this. I am so happy about this!
I'll have more of this to share as I continue to work on it - today I begin borders. I have something simple yet scrappy in ind. I'm excited to see what finishes up this beauty.
Yesterday we drove to Jonesville NC to visit with Jeff and Casden while Ashlyn was at work.
Lunch out at a Japanese steakhouse. YUM.
Back to Jeff's to spend time together which included a couple of Halloween type movies on Disney+. The Haunted Mansion was a favorite as a kid and I wanted to see the latest incarnation. It was fun and cute and we enjoyed our time - with popcorn.
Now I want to go back and see the 1990s version with Eddy Murphy. I think that will be saved for Halloween night.
Today is the last day for Irene's Sewciologists and plans include all of our group and over-the-porch-rail photos. The past week flew by so quickly!
I hope everyone had a lovely weekend with some time to do what you love to do.
You have made Starshine a hit! Thank you so much, everyone. I can't wait to see your projects in progress and down the road - finishes.
