String Frenzy Blog Tour and Gift-Away!

Welcome back, everyone!

For those who are new, and following along on my String Frenzy Blog Tour with C&T Publishing, I want to thank you for taking the time to stop by and find out more about my newest book release.

I am in love with ALL THINGS STRINGS.

If there is a place within any block or quilt that I can get away with throwing in some fun string piecing, I will do it.

I see many more string quilts in my future!

This is how it all starts for me.

Oh, the possibilities!

Strings are basically those narrow strips of fabric of various widths – things either narrower than 1 1/2’’ or anything I am ready to be “done with” and sew right on out of my stash into scrappy string quilts.

This bin holds the remnants of 30+ years of quilts - an archive of the fabrics that have come through my life as a quilter, a timeline of projects past.  Each one is a treasured (or many not!) friend just waiting for the right place to play within a scrappy string block.

While I am sharing just a few close up photos below, you can visit the original String Frenzy Trunk Show post HERE.

Often times I will sort fabric strings by color family, as seen here in Dawn’s Early Light – which includes a combination of string blocks, half square triangles and other units.

You can't go wrong with Red, White & Blue.

Mixing string piecing in where normally one large piece of singular fabric would fall takes the quilt from nice to OH, WOW for me.

And no, I can never have enough neutrals!  Why use just one piece of background, when you can use 100?

Sometimes neutrals are used as borders and sashings -

Just look at that texture sing in Daybreak!
