From Victoria with Love!

20160714_135105
There was a little bit of stash enhancement yesterday during our stop in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada!

It was a crazy last minute idea.

But sometimes those turn out to be the best ones!

Mom, Aunt Gail and Aunt Joy had purchased an excursion called “Taste of Victoria” including a panoramic tour of the city, a stop at Buchart Gardens, and lunch at the Gardens and some other goodies.

Irene and I were unable to sign up because there was a waiting list.

And then we didn’t get called at all because the waiting list was too long.

In the end, it worked out great because I took Kathy and Dale up on their offer of driving us to Buchart themselves!

Those of you who were reading me during my last Alaskan Cruise might remember the time they gave us a ride in their 1954 Caddie Limo!  Read that post HERE.

While we didn’t have a limo this time, we did have a guided tour through parts of Victoria I hadn’t seen before, including a quilt shop!

Cloth Castle Quilt Shop!

I’m saving the Buchart Gardens and  other photos for when I get home to edit them.  MUCHO photos.  This needs fast speed home wifi to handle them and do them justice.

I wrote this post ahead last night because this morning we are docking back in Seattle and hurrying to the airport to catch flights in all of our separate directions.

Yes, I remembered to keep my jeans in my cabin when I put the suitcases outside of my door for pickup.  I will NOT have to wear a sheet like a toga! [This nearly happened last cruise, remember?]

I want to thank these ladies for making my visit so special:

Thanks for the welcome everyone!

Mom heads home to Boise.  Joy and Gail head to Minneapolis.  Irene is headed to Whidbey Island to visit her own Mamacita for a few days before going on home to Louisville, Kentucky.

And this girl is going home to Greensboro.  For just a few days.  It’s going to be a quick turn around. I leave the 19th for Montana.

Since this post is a bit short-sheeted I thought you might want to head over to the C&T blog where my July post is up!

You just might learn something! If so, please leave a comment over there on that post letting the folks at C&T know that you read the article and what you thought about it.

And if there is something you would like me to discuss in a future C&T post, please leave that info in the comments section on that post as well!  Your question just might be featured in a future post.

Quiltville Quote of the Day!

Vintage quilt found in North Carolina.

This is something I’m working on.  Trying not to focus on stress and let it take charge of how I feel.  There are a couple of curve balls I am dealing with, and I am determined to turn them into something positive!

Happily tired.  Ready to go home.  Missing everyone already.

Can’t wait to see Sadie and hug my family.

Catch you from home, everyone!

  1. So glad you enjoyed your time here in Victoria.

As for the curve balls, here's what I'm believing for: Serendipity to replace disappointment.

    Simple Definition of serendipity
: luck that takes the form of finding valuable or pleasant things that are not looked for

Safe travels home. See you in Barcelona!!

  2. Love your term stash enhancement. For your C&T blog talk about your scrap theory - how you separate by sizes. You still have people on your Facebook page ask about it.

  3. Safe travels home Bonnie, glad you got to see some of my part of the world. I work right across the street from the cloth castle although I'm currently in Alberta. Hope you get a couple restful days at home. :)

  4. Bonnie you have taught me well over the past 2years about neutrals. I went warhouse shopping a week ago in Reno while in the. U.S from Australia. I too bought the golf umbrella fabric to add to the neutrals. Thankyou for your ongoing .posts.

  5. I'm going to email a link to the C&T post to a newbie quilter I'm trying to teach (as of last night). She took a class several years ago, but, doesn't remember much. We were working on 4 patch blocks last night (not much success with seam allowance. This should help her practice before our next lesson. Thanks. Pet Sadie for me.

  8. I will be looking William James up...This quote is one of the best I've read, maybe ever. I teach special ed and my school recently moved. My entire staff will hear this quote at our next meeting. Simple, sweet and so accurate. Thanks for all the fun of the cruise. I feel like I was reliving mine of several years ago. Quilt on!

  9. Great information on the C & T Publishing site, looking forward to more. Glad you are having a great time on your cruise, nice that you got to see a little piece of Canada at least, it is a wonderful place to live and I am proud to be a Canadian. I have never been to Victoria, but hopefully one day.

  10. Thanks so much for the heads-up on the refresher for twisting the seams on four square units. Great information.

  11. Thank you, Bonnie, for the beautiful YouTube video of Butchart Gardens. My sisters and I had tickets to go, but since the official excursion was cancelled, we tried to do tea and the gardens on our own. We would have only had just over an hour in the gardens, and the transportation there and back was expensive. We chose to visit the Royal British Columbia Museum instead, and really enjoyed the First People exhibit. And the garden tickets are refundable. I'll just have to go to Victoria again! We had a great time in class and are anxious to finish our Razzle Dazzle quilts.
