Some Conejo Valley Show & Share!

20160214_130817
So many lovely finishes were brought to our workshop days and to the evening guild meeting in Thousand Oaks, California!

Of course I am always thrilled when an Allietare makes an appearance, even if it is in “snack size!”

If you made half the units during our mystery, this is a very doable size from your pieces and parts.

If you made ALL of the units, a bit more work and you could have two of these, one to keep, and one to give.

However you do it, they have all been so beautiful and I just get giddy when you bring them to me to show me what you did from your scraps.

SO LOVELY!

Wild & Goosey!  Whoowhooo!!!

Wild & Goosey was a block design from my Addicted to Scraps column with Quiltmaker Magazine.  All of those cut of triangles from various projects are perfect for paper piecing the little block quarters.  This pattern is also featured in my online workshop with Craft U.  Did you know you can STILL jump in?  Use coupon code BHSCRAP at checkout to save $30.00 off of the course price!

A full sized Allietare, Hooray!!

This top is just ready for borders and was brought to our Split 9 Patch workshop on Monday.  Her fabrics were so lovely, just perfect!

Scrappy Mountain Majesties from the Free Patterns tab!

So fun to see what other fabrics folks use for this quilt and what layout they choose.  We had fun with this workshop last week at Quilt in a Day in San Marcos as well!

Shirttails from Scraps & Shirttails!

I so love to see quilts made from recycled fabrics. There is just such a warmth and so much comfort that comes from working with these humble pieces.  They give you a quilt that feels instantly vintage.  This one looks so great!

Lady of Lake Erie!

Lady of Lake Erie was featured in Quiltmaker Magazine several years back and it really is a favorite.  The pattern is found in the book Devoted to Scraps, a collection of scrap quilt beauties, and is found in the Quiltville Store!  It retails for $17.99 but I’ve set the remaining copies at $14.00. There are 13 patterns in the book, so that’s just a bit over $1.00 per pattern!

There are 9 copies in the store.  When they are gone they are gone!

Update:  ALL SOLD OUT!!

Right now MY Lady of Lake Erie is on my bed up at the cabin.  I love blue and white quilts!

Grand Illusion looking like so much spring!

Each quilt was so beautiful as it was unfolded and presented for all to see.  I so appreciate your bringing your quilts!

Hexies & Downton!

I don’t have a machine at dad’s.  I really don’t think I want one here.  I much more enjoy quiet stitching while we chat and either watch a movie, or catch up on a missed episode of Downton Abbey like we are doing here.  The object of my being here in Arizona is to step away from business.  There are no plans for quilt shop hopping.  There is just no desire there.

There is a desire however to spend as much time with family as I can, and to nap when I want, and to take long walks and enjoy the sunshine and the bird song.

And citrus fresh off the tree!

And a breakfast morning meeting with my friend Andee who is a moderator on my Quiltville’s Open Studio list on facebook.  That’s where I’m headed as soon as this posts.  With a group of over 36,000 quilters, I’m happy to have the help of  a couple of great gals to run it.  Have you joined our group?  It’s loads of fun with show & share and encouragement and giggles and friendship, coming globally 24/7/365!

After breakfast, if it is still cool enough, Dad and I may head out on a hike.  We are playing it by ear.

  1. Allietare has to be the most captivating of your mystery quilts. I simply love it! I currently have Celtic Solstice in my quilting frame, so I disciplined myself to not sign on for any more mysteries until it is complete. When done it will be my first full size quilt. This novice really didn't know what I was in for when I signed on. I have my list of 'someday' patterns, and Allietare is right at the top!

  4. Scrap Crystals in purple and pink will be donated to Relay for Life to help raise funds for cancer research. The blocks were made by members of Camarillo Quilters' Association Forget-Me-Knots small group; the quilt assembled by Diane Lotspeich, and machine quilted by Nancy Isbell. This is our 8th year to donate a quilt to Relay for Life.

  5. So glad you're taking some "chill" time. Everyone needs it. What better way than spending time with your Dad, slow sewing, & catching up on tv shows you've missed! Of course, we can't forget those special meal times. Now I have to go back to Mineola to see what I can find! When I am strolling around, I look for antique hankies. I do have a couple of antique handmade, but I think my favorite one is yellow with birds from 48 states embroidered.

Enjoy your "chill" time & your daddy. I hope the shower is fun, too. A great aunt. Aren't you lucky!
