Compu-Quilting!

I feel like a little kid on new skates for the first time, afraid to let go of the rail!

I'm now loading an older quilt top I finished years ago, and I'm going to quilt a simple pantograph on it. The thing that scares me the most? Broken threads & running out of bobbin! I'm so used to being able to just grab that machine by the handles and moving it off, or moving it back and starting where I left off, and now it all has to be directed by where I set the computer and it's a bit frustrating right now.

At the same time, it has put new life in my desire to continue long arm quilting as I go into 15 years of long arming. 1995 can't really be that long ago, can it? I guess it can!

I'm working on the directions for the pieced border for Carolina Christmas. It's about 1/2 done....I hope to get it uploaded by this evening, as last evening just didn't happen! My thoughts here are....get the quilt quilting, and in between, work on the pages for the border. Can I really multi-task this?

On top of everything else, we've been pounded with snow and it is sure beautiful out there! The sun is coming out, just making everything sparkle. Yes, it feels like Christmas in the Carolinas!

  1. Happy skating, uhm quilting! Just know once you let go of the rail and master it, you will be set for life! Congrats to your new computer and if everything else fails: you got to crawl before you can walk.
My version of your CCH mystery is laying on the floor behind me - and of course it is beautiful due to excellent design! Thank you for your generosity and sharing of your special talent. Happy Holidays!

  2. Looks like fun! What a great way to get inspired to continue longarm quilting. I have only had my Milli for a year so hopefully my inspiration will last anther 14 years like yours! I am interested in how you have that spot light attached to your longarm - looks like much better light than just the light bar. Merry Christmas!

  5. The new Compu-Quilter is pretty cool to watch. You'll be a pro in no time :) Love the snowy pictures, we have about 3 inches snow on the ground. The weather outside is frightful so I am going to sew matching PJ's for child and doll.

  6. We are getting snow here in Indiana. But not as much as you are expected to receive.
I shoveled the drive twice today. Hubby was called in to plow our county roads. I figured the last thing he needs to see when he gets home is more snow to move.
You will be fine with your computer aided machine. Remember, it is nly as smart as the person running it. So...it must be a winner if you are running it!!!

  7. Bonnie,
you will do wonderful things with your new toy, I'm looking forward to seeing them.

Here in Southern Maryland we have more than a foot of snow...and it's still coming down. I haven't done any shoveling, but I did go out this morning and shake my evergreens to keep the snow from weighing them down and splitting the branches. No sun here until sometime tomorrow.
    Christmas Blessings,

  8. Thanks for the video on your new quilting machine. It looks like a lot of fun. And I'm double and triple green with envy if that's a Dear Jane on the wall behind your machine. Thanks for the awesome Carolina Christmas mystery quilt. I'm only on Step 2, but hopefully it will be finished by next Christmas.

  9. Hey Bonnie,

Your new toy is almost like starting over huh. But, I bet it is exciting and adds a bit of spark to your quilting. You can pass some of that snow to Arkansas. We are out for Christmas break and I can't wait to have 4 or so inches of snow so everything will be sparkling white. I don't mind the snow as long as I can stay in the house and look out the window or my husband is around to drive me.

  10. Bonnie,
Congratulations on your new toy! Here is to another 15 years of happy quilting.
I love your Dear Jane in the background, do you have pictures of your Dear Jane posted some where? I sure would like to look at it some more.
Stay safe and cozy inside with all that snow outside.
If I had thought you had the time I would have loved to connect with you while you were in AZ.
