Another Lil' Stringy Thingy!

Look! The Blue Wizard is home! And she runs like a dream! It wasn't cheap to get her fixed, but undoubtedly worth it. I have NOT heard from the ebay seller...after I sent him pics of the broken mess. He sent one email saying it was UPS's fault. Excuse me? the box was in perfect condition. No holes, no tape off, nothing. The box was too big for the machine, the machine rattled around because there was not enough packing material in the box. UPS didn't do that. Besides..there was no foot pedal,no belt, no bobbin case?? working condition?(okay, don't get my blood boiling again here....)

So..The wizard is home. And she sews beautifully! Who WOULDN'T love to sew on a machine called WIZARD?? Just to prove it, I made this little stringy thingy for Tonya! She has invited me to do a collaborative book with her and I am so tickled. I haven't been able to spend much time with her on it yet, or give much input, but I've had other irons in the fire.

So Ton, Lil' Stringy Thingy is on it's way to Gay Paree! Be watchin for it. Sorry I don't have time to hand quilt it for you myself, but I'm sure you will come up with something wunnerful!

Yesterday I also found a box waiting for me. Oh boy. I'm going to have to ban myself from ebay...I've now got the set of insulated MUGS from my childhood, and the CARRIER they go in! Weeeeeeee! But I'm done now. I certainly don't need an ice bucket, and not sure I want the pitcher..well....we'll see! My family just stands around shaking their heads!

  1. Just let them shake their heads. If it makes you happy to have them they should be happy!

  2. I remember those from my childhood also! I just can't remember who had them! It was either one of my gramma's (I had 3) or my aunt! I remember always drinking soda pop out of them... with ice cubes from the ice cube tray! The metal ones!
I know, some people are saying what are those???
    Good Times!

  3. Bonnie, you are bad for my productivity! I've been drooling over your string quilt, and now you post a pic of another one?

I'm quitting what I'm doing to go to the sewing room and sort out my scraps and start one myself...

In other words, I LOVE IT!

  4. love the effect your getting with the solid strings! The "wonkiness" is very evident becuase the edge of each peice is so easy to see in comparison to a quick glance at a piece using patterned fabric (In my humble opinion)

  5. When I bought my featherweight, it took me over an HOUR to unpack everything, it was so totally taped, crammed, and packed with paper, styrofoam, and stuffings.

    It looks fabulous!

  7. I remember mugs like these, not from my house though, from my Aunt's home. It's just great seeing them again, what fun! That string thing is the BEST!

  11. Bonnie, we not only had these mugs when I was a child, we had tall iced tea glasses, the pitcher, a tray and coasters! I don't remember the rack though. Loved the String Quilts.

  13. We had cups like that when I was a kid. I loved 'em. I think they came from the dairy with something in them. (???) I have some other aluminum tumblers that DID come with cottage cheese or something like that in them. You know, when the milkman came to your door. I SHALL NOT GO TO EBAY, I SHALL NOT GO TO EBAY. Sheesh, like I NEED old cups....but they are dang cute. ;)

  14. I am glad you were able to get the parts for your new/old machine. Still seems unfair that the seller is not held responsible.

  15. The string thingy is wonderful! Lucky Tonya. I really want to play with my solids too and this is a great way to do that. I can't wait to hear more about the book you are planning with Tonya.

  16. I have wonderful memories of those cups and tumblers from the farm that my gramma had. She would make Kool aide in the Pitcher and I would sit out on the steps and watch my grampa bring in the cows for milking. In the evenings we would sit in the little room and sew. The tumblers were not allowed in the little room.
