3am Hot Flash.....
I don't recommend piecing at 3am on a regular basis! Believe me, it will make you a zombie for the rest of the day, and you'll end up taking 2 naps to catch up on sleep, and that will throw the NEXT night's sleep off kilter too!
This little ditty measures about 38X42. Fun working with the solid strings. I want to play with more :c)
I leave in the morning for Woodbridge VA! Getting excited here. We've had this trip planned for a long time. The weather here has been gorgeous, much cooler than last week and I hope it will continue up through VA. The trunkshow is already in the car. I just need to pack my clothes, load my own sewing stuff for in the hotel...and vroom vroom I'm off!

HI BONNIE, MY NAME IS CIDA, I'M FROM BRAZIL. I LOVE YOUR QUILT, IDEAS FANTASTICS.CONGRATULATIONS, YOUR BLOG IS BEATIFUL!!
ReplyDeleteSORRY, MY ENGLISH NOT GOOD.
Cida your english isn't bad :)
Deleteyou weren't joking when you said you'd get started at the wee hours in the am! and you are right about catching up on sleep - that part is hard to for me... I made the mistake of stayin up all night before Father's Day last weekend and have been paying for it ever since! But life goes on.. ready or not. :P
ReplyDeleteLove your "Hot Flash" another wild and crazy sting quilt... what a great way to capture a hotflash! :P
Love from Texas! ~bonnie
I LOVE the new string quilt! I may have to borrow that idea, as I've been looking for the perfect Amish, yet funky, quilt idea for DH's Aunt & Uncle. I think every quilt I've gifted so far has been one of your patterns! :)
ReplyDeleteNow GO GET SOME SLEEP!!! ~Jessica
It's really pretty, Bonnie. Kind of reminds me of some of the quilts I saw at the Gee's Bend exhibit when I visited Boston.
ReplyDeleteAnd the name of the quilt? Insomnia?
ReplyDeleteIt's worth some nap time the next day. It's really great.
Really pretty, bright, bold.....hope you have sunglasses handy!
ReplyDeleteLoving this new quilt. So happy and full of movement.
ReplyDeleteMmmmmm. Love this one. Now I know what to do with all that solid fabric I have. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteWow! What a great 'flash' of inspiration :-)
ReplyDeleteHave a great trip.
Yikes! Love this quilt...
ReplyDeleteSiobhan has taken the words out of my mouth. It's awesome.
ReplyDeleteSympathise with the flushes. Been there, still there and bleuch!
Wow. I'm not usually a fan of solids but I *love* this top! (It wouldn't have looked that good if *I* had done it at 3 a.m.!!)
ReplyDeleteI am not a big fan of solids, but I like how this looks. I may have to try it (if I live long enough). I like your new picture in your profile section.
ReplyDeleteWelcome to my sleeping schedule !
ReplyDelete10 years of working nights does this to a human being. No hot flashes yet so, you have my sympathies.
Love the stings
I was also going to mention Gee's Bend, but Joanna beat me to it. There is a lot of energy in that little quilt. I had forgotten how much I liked the Amish look of solids. Beautiful.
ReplyDeleteBonnie, this quilt is gorgeous! Yum! Yum!
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear about the hot flashes...but just look at what you're doing with them!!! LOVE love love this quilt!!! Very Gee's inspired!
ReplyDeleteYour profile pic is adorable!

I love this quilt! I looked at it yesterday and just couldn't get it out of my mind, so I came back today to admire it some more. Awesome! :)
ReplyDeleteThat quilt is gorgeous!!! I know being a zombie for a day is no fun but heck, just look at that quilt and it will be all worth it :)
ReplyDeletePeggy in NJ
Love your quilt! It's very Gee's Bend-ish, with a little Gwen Marston thrown in on the side! And I love the name "Insomnia"! Have a great trip!
ReplyDeleteI am basically a night owl and early riser but I also like those quickie 5 minute naps...I blame those harmones...quilt Gees inspired...very nice...Maine
ReplyDeleteOooo - I love it!
ReplyDeleteBonnie, I just noticed your new photo on the sidebar. Please tell me we will see something like this inside the book cover on the "about the author" section! I think this photo captures your personality so wonderfly!!! :)
ReplyDeletePerfect for "Scraps and shirt tails"!
Love from Texas! ~bonnie
Bonnie, I LOVE THIS! Very fun! It looks pretty easy, too. Is it? I'm hopeful. :o) Love ya, Sis! Joy
ReplyDelete..and I thought solids were boring..how wrong am I! It's absolutely gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteOh my It's fantastic! Really love, love, love, it!
ReplyDeleteReminds me of a Gee's Bend use of color...I love it.
ReplyDeleteI love the bright colors in this quilt. I love all fabrics, but lately I have fallen in love with solids. That middle block is the best.
ReplyDeleteOh this is so beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI'm lost of words, cannot believe the energy and creativity you've got! I like your work so much, and right now I have started on you Blue Heaven. I hope to get it done as soon as possible, but I not as fast as you work, lol! :-) Love your website, too.
ReplyDeleteHaving had many, many hot flashes, I understand. I also understand that the pattern of the quilt was dictated by the hot flash. I wonder how many of the antique quilts we admire were hot flash quilts.
ReplyDeleteThis quilt speaks to me! Big fan of color and solids!
ReplyDeleteLong time reader, first time commenter. Really enjoy your blog! Have even started a Scrappy Bargello.
Love it!!!!
ReplyDeleteIt's so Amish and yet, so NOT!
The tiny one for Tonya is wonderful too. I love all your string quilts too -- your Atomic Orange star inspired me to make a slightly calmer version in blues and browns. :-)
Love the solid colors in your quilt. Wow! you can come up with the most awesome quilts. At 3:30 AM my eyes are still shut.
