We had bright blue skies on Saturday afternoon - but that wind! Holy cow!
It turned rocking chairs over - it wound the flag around the flag pole.
But we still got out and did the best we could with our over-the-porch-rail photos -
It was a "Hold on to your quilts, ladies - we're not in Kansas anymore!" kind of photo opportunity.
Sometimes you've just got to do the best you can with it, and capture the laughter along with the quilts.
Indigo Way is on the left followed by a couple of undetermined quilt top finishes! LOL!
One of them is the quilt from this magazine cover:
She got it done, and I never saw the top finish other than what is over the rail.
The blue triangle quilt top was also gorgeous - I had so many appointments since last Thursday that I missed a lot of the bell ringing top finishes.
Another lovely Indigo Way and the silk tie top shared in yesterday's post. Just a blowin' in the wind!
Pam was lucky! The wind was blowing her quilt against the side of the porch railing - isn't it wonderful?
Also finished by Pam: The Van Gogh inspired quilt that she picked up as a kit:
A patriotic wheel block is seen next to it.
Sometimes the wind obeys!
Other times it says "Hold my beer!"
Wonderful house quilt top and a gorgeous Legacy Wheel quilt by Tara Miller - the heart and hands behind Quilt District! This quilt is available as a PDF pattern download on her website.
She has patterns, templates, and great tee shirts!
Hand pieced, hand quilting fan (modern) and hand pieced, hand quilted Grandmother's Flower Garden (1930s!)
We also had a fun show & share, bed turning style with quilts of all kinds on Saturday as well. THAT slideshow is taking forever to upload to YouTube, so I'll be sharing it in tomorrow's post.

And what's with this banner?
Inspiration from the signature quilt!
As I write this up a bit later than normal - The exhibit quilts left Quiltville Inn this morning, being driven back to Indiana today by Bill & Sue who spent the night. I can't believe they drove all of this way to hand carry them to the Quilter's Hall of Fame!
Hubster Dave is on his way to Lowes to pick up miscellaneous things including a cafe rod and some command hooks to hang the banner where all can enjoy it.
I should have it hung by the time Debbie's Quilters arrive this afternoon for the start of their retreat.
And on we go again.
Most of you know this happened MONDAY. Did you get your entry in?

Love Leo Buscaglia, remember when he use to be on all the talk shows? What a positive influence he was for us all, "Mr. hug master". Fabulous mini quilt show once again, thanks for sharing everyone's quilts Bonnie :0) Happy Sewing!

Windy Over the porch Pics are ok!! Fantastic finishes from the Quilt District. Sew fun to see the Quilt from Pepper Cory! Inspired by their fun Banner. Yea for Hubster Dave going for the hooks and curtain rod. I love all the names on the Quilt. maybe a gift for an out going Pastor? I had an Uncle John. He called me Mary Jane. Have a great Wednesday. Wish I could go to the Quilters Hall of fame to see your Quilts.
ReplyDeleteThe banner quilt is previous, it gave me goosebumps thinking of the ladies getting together saying we could do that!! Heartwarming for certain! Dawn, California
ReplyDeleteWOW! What an intense group shot!! All of the quilts this week were very detailed in the piecing! Such a crazy week... so glad it's 1/2 way done! Have a good evening!
ReplyDeleteA few days behind with this comment, but - did anyone else notice the optical illusion created by the small black squares "between blocks" in the Licorice Twist quilt? Move your eyes around and some of the squares seem to disappear then reappear. It's called scintillation. This quilt acts as a variation of the famous Hermann grid illusion? (I'm always fascinated by optical illusions in quilts and on the lookout for them.)
