Ditch Lilies got quilted up all nice and pretty!
Small quilts quilt up so quickly! (Okay, not that small - it's about 55'' square, but that's all relative, right?)
I had the weekend mostly to myself - there wasn't a retreat this past weekend and I could just put my Pandora music on shuffle and just go with it.
Out of the "Lesser-loved" backing bin. LOL!
I'm happy to say this is the last of that brown toile that has been in the stash forever.
There wasn't enough to keep it all once fabric - I had to insert a piece of another "please go away!" print in there, and then that far right column has the people in the toile going sideways -
That's the problem with toile! There is no way to NOT cut off someone's head - and it is so directional.
I hope it gives someone a chuckle 50 years from now.

Sew Q Laser shining brightly making joining binding ends on the diagonal a super easy and successful job! I love this thing!
Pressed and ready to attach!
The only sad thing? I still have a couple yards of this juniper green tone-on-tone still leftover.
And on it goes -
And from this point it waited in the binding queue. There was one quilt still in front of it that just needed the sleeve and label stitched down:
Square Pegs is now done done done!
The PDF pattern for Square Pegs should be ready later this summer as there are some other things in the line up.
Licorice Twist releases NEXT WEEK!
I went back and forth and back and forth on names for this one - I don't generally like to name quilts after food. Seriously. But this one fits. And yes, it would be gorgeous in any color - or all rainbow.
And you KNOW there will be introductory pricing, a gift-away and all that goes with that so stay tuned.
This also continued -
The big rocks from the side yard are now stacked at the edge of the parking area. This was a big job!
And no more bottles were found - but we are still looking.
Weekend cuteness. Mabel Mae.
While things may look perfect online, everyone has a different life behind their monitors and phone screens.
Everyone is heightening the positives and downplaying the negatives. It's human nature.
They are only showing you their A sides, not their B sides. Smoke and mirrors. Remember that.
Enjoy your Monday, everyone!
Mabel is such a handsome dog. So is Zoey.

I also had quiltous interuptous on my Pine Tree Point quilt....so will try to get to that today.
Will you be watching the solar eclipse?
Your quilts turned out fabulous.
As always.
Have a Sparkling good day 💞
Ready for the total eclipse
ReplyDeleteLove that quilt in the background of your daily quote! It has been thoroughly loved. My mom made scrappy quilts for all her grandkids and I have a few thoroughly loved quilts that my lambs used in college. Can't give them up!
ReplyDeleteIt's a shame you work so hard to make a spectacular quilt top then ruin it with your ugly backings. With your love of animals, why don't you donate all that ugly fabric to an animal shelter to be made into dog beds.
ReplyDeleteWhy did you have to write such a nasty comment? To each his own. You do you. I do me. As Bonnie said, “Life is a one of a kind adventure”. Fran in Pa
DeleteBeauty is in the eye of the beholder…..personally I think the backs are perfect! To go out and buy fabric for the backings would defeat the purpose of scrap quilting. We each have our own purpose in quilting, if you are only doing one or two quilts a year or for very special occasions then perhaps co-ordinating backings would be appropriate. We all have our own tastes and none of them are wrong.
Delete#1. I don't accept shame from anyone.
Delete#2. am not ruining anything. ALL fabric is worthy and all will age over time.
#3. I can't believe you even thought it was okay to make this comment.
Please Lord don’t let me turn into this kind of person.
DeleteMy mother always told me “if you don’t have anything nice to say, then keep your mouth shut!”. Everyone should embrace this advice. I love your reply Bonnie K. Hunter!
DeleteHEY ANONYMOUS! Throw that shame crap my way. I care not what goes on the back of my quilts-the focus is the fabulous tops I make. It may not match, it may be a bunch of crap I don't want to use for piecing, all assembled until I get to size desired. And YES, I do this on my keepers as well as my gifts. Jokes on you guuuuurl. Get on your high horse and sail away into your "better than you" sunset. I'm sure it's a lonely place!
DeleteI absolutely do not pay any attention to what's on the back of my quilt unless it's a gift; and even then I don't worry about it being a "work of art." Many times I use plain unbleached muslin, which shows off the quilting very nicely.
DeleteI don't look at the backs of the quilts, and only care that whatever color fabric I use doesn't show through to the front - the actual quilt...I'm not going to spend nearly $13/yd for fabric that won't be seen, and would rather keep that money for quilt tops.
I do hope folks are nicer to you than you were to Bonnie.
Cornhole is another name for beanbag toss.
ReplyDelete... and what's that?
DeleteCornhole/beanbag toss is played like horshoes, only you use 1 lb bags and toss at a slanted board with a hole in it. Goal is to get the bag in the hole.
DeleteAll of the quilts pictured today are just lovely! Yes, Licorice Twist couldn't be more perfect for a name. I really like the juniper color fabric used for the binding. I would be happy to have some left for future things. The rock wall is wonderful! They are so much work but so worth it to look at! Great job, Dave!
ReplyDeleteNot Ugly ! I love the toile prints in every color & pattern. Doesn't matter one bit if some of the people are upside down or sideways. It's all beautiful. If this was my quilt it would be turned with the toile side showing at least one week out of every month. Probably folded on the back of my rocker.

Love seeing Lola and Mabel, I got a few blocks sewn this morning but it was a total eclipse day here. We enjoyed the patio all afternoon. Ditch Lilies are the best! Great choice with Licorice.
ReplyDeleteMom taught us at an early age if you have nothing nice to say, say nothing. Bonnie, cozy comfy quilt….yes 50 years from now it will still bring smiles! Blessings, Dawn in Central Valley, California
ReplyDeleteOh, you are on a finishing roll, Miss Bonnie!! And I love the Mabel & Lola shots!! Totally made my day! Mother Nature was cranky today in my neck of the woods with the Total Solar Eclipse... Total cloud cover & in fact it started sprinkling before hand. Oh well... I'm glad for those that got to actually see it! :)
ReplyDeleteYour daily quotes are always so applicable. Thank you for taking time to include them. Quilts are lovely as always…pets are cutie and could someone please explain how some fabric seems to endlessly reproduce itself while tucked away?

Love the Ditch Lillies quilt. That Sew Q Laser looks pretty cool. May have to save my nickels and dimes and get one. Your babies are so pretty.
ReplyDeleteLove the quote.. Most of us don't want to share the B or C side. LOL
I just recently discovered your blog and am so enjoying reading it daily and watching your short daily video clips! Thanks for the great quilt inspiration and words of wisdom!
ReplyDeleteI agree Dorsi, I am still enjoying Bonnie's blog after many years, I have coffee every morning with Bonnie :0), starts my day on a positive up lifted note :0). Happy Sewing!
DeleteMonday was spent with family visiting and watching the sun disappear behind clouds here in western NY. We were in the path of totality. It sprinkled, got dark as night, lightened up again, still cloudy. So while we didn't view the actual moon covered sun, we still had the experience and a lovely day of visiting. Love the Ditch Lilies and Square Pegs. Every trip to a quilt shop finds me buying more neutrals to add to my collection for future projects. Thanks so much for all the inspiration. Blessing on you all.
ReplyDeleteI think an "unconventionally beautiful" backing makes a quilt more interesting myself. April Darnell
ReplyDeleteWow!! I can't imagine telling someone their backing on a quilt was ugly! Unless the quilt is for you & you prefer something else...what difference does it make? It's a great way to use up less loved fabric & these are scrappy quilts, anyway! I'm hoping whoever you are that you just had a bad day & you don't make comments like this every day!
ReplyDeleteAlice
Anyone know the name of the blocks in the “quote quilt” in todays blog?
ReplyDeleteJudy
I would be honored to get a quilt made for me! Backing is not a big deal if it matches or not. Quilting is a labor of love! Great reply Bonnie!
